An Airbus A320 en route from Sochi to Omsk declared a mid-flight emergency on Tuesday morning and was redirected to an alternate airfield in Novosibirsk, but failed to reach it, emergency services told Russian media.
The aircraft was forced to perform an emergency landing in a field 180km away from Novosibirsk International Airport. The incident was reportedly caused by a hydraulics malfunction, according to preliminary reports.
There were up to 170 people aboard the distressed Ural Airlines flight, including 23 children. Early reports noted that none of the passengers or crew suffered any serious injuries. The authorities said the aircraft remained in one piece upon landing, there was no fire on board, and that everyone safely evacuated the plane using emergency slides.
Multiple Telegram channels shared pictures from the scene, showing the aircraft with inflated evacuation slides in a grain field surrounded by first responders. Groups of passengers could be seen standing in the distance in other photos.

The governors of Novosibirsk and Omsk Regions promised to provide the passengers with all the necessary assistance, including temporary shelter and transportation. The Russian aviation authorities have launched a probe into the circumstances of the incident.
AVIATION PING!......................
Very good piloting.
Damn good I’d say!...................
That has to be a good job. I was all set to make cracks about never flying Aeroflot (or any Soviet/Russian carrier) but…anytime you can put a big plane down in a field and nobody gets hurt…gotta give credit where it is due!
> I was all set to make cracks about never flying Aeroflot
I’ve flown Aeroflot. A 777 from Sheremetyevo Moscow to JFK in 1998. The flight crew boarded walking in lock step with the captain leading. No joking or backslapping. Crew was crisply dressed, professional, and proficient in English.
The plane was relatively new, but it was immaculately maintained. The meal choice was salmon or steak. The salmon was unsurpassed in its preparation. Best airline food I’ve ever had.
I will say, however, that the take off and landing was aggressive. BANG! We were in the air. SLAM! We were on the ground. The g-forces on takeoff were, by far, the most I’ve ever felt on an airplane.
The Pulkovo flight on a TU154 from St. Petersburg to Moscow was another story. Mom and Pop airline flown by Chewbacca. People smoking, and filled with vodka. Most of them could hardly walk off the plane when we landed.
I still live in my 1975 Soviet-Era mindset, which I know intellectually that is not reality, but...the persistent mindset amuses me in some way...:)
Excellent work by the pilot! Glad everyone is OK.
Hope they all have clean underwear in their luggage.................
Unbelievably good job by these guys. Typical landing speeds are 125 to 140 Knots. They probably slowed it down more than that this time.
One blessing of collective farms is that they are huge. Perfect time of year to be doing these stunts in freshly harvested fields!
Unbelievable. Whoever heard of a big jet plane landing in a grain field?
Good testament to Airbus, too
My first flight on Aeroflot, Los Angeles to Moscow, 13-hour direct on a 777 back in 2014. The AC wasn’t working and to make matters worse, I was dressed for winter (and to impress my fiancé), not for flying (I don’t know what I was thinking) and I was in the very back row (no reclining, middle seat).
The meal, oh yeah, the meal, ehh, it was so so (a kielbasa, boiled potato, piece of bread, and dry salad). Other than that, though, the crew was incredibly professional.
That had to be the most miserable I’ve ever been.
Indeed...it didn’t break up into pieces.
Any landing from which you can walk away is a good one.
This one was outstanding in its field!.................
LOL, nice meal.
No serious injuries.
Good job pilots
