Even if the battery charge claim is true, you would need a substation's electricity and a solid copper charging cable as thick as your arm to transfer that much power so quickly.

A few of these cars charging would cause a blackout.

A gas pump at a service station transfers chemical energy in the form of gasoline at a rate of 20 MW. It would be hard to beat. A 25 AMP 240 V line is 0.006 MW, more than 3000 times more slowly. The amount of energy you can transfer in a second at the gas pump would take over an hour at a 5000 W charging station.

Sounds like a sound investment opportunity to me.

I see the bums cutting copper wire to get cash for drugs and liquor.

It used to be a joke in power plant construction that “IF you could not double your weekly wage by stealing copper then you were a very poor construction employee.”
