Another bitter, slightly senile mean old man.

No…not Biden, the killer.

It’s a pity the 8 year old wasn’t armed.

Couldn’t find the exact details - were the trees hanging over onto the neighbor’s property? In my state, it is legal to trim back such trees on your side of the property.

Or was the “tree trimmer” going onto the neighbor’s property? or trimming back trees that were on the neighbor’s side of the property.

Was this an on-going neighborhood feud between the two?

Still, the result wasn’t warranted or justified.

Discovery ID has a series called “Fear They Neighbor” about all kinds of neighborhood disputes that end in gunfire and death.

Nothing worse than a feud in the neighborhood - my friend is going through one right now and says it’s hell - he’s tried to make amends but his vindictive neighbor won’t have it.

Mainstream news stories are so frustrating. This story doesn’t even say who owns the trees or whether the trees were hanging over the property line. As someone who loves trees and has created a small forest over 50 years on our large suburban lot, this story holds a lot of interest for me. Some of our neighbors love it and some hate it. We even have one neighbor who used to come over and “trim” some of our plants in the middle of the night. He doesn’t even live next door. Whenever I have caught him, I scream at him. He thinks he owns the neighborhood. Fortunately, he is getting older and doesn’t do it so much anymore.

For anyone who might be interested in the topic, I believe that it is legal (at least around here) to trim neighbors’ trees that hang over your property line, as long as it doesn’t damage the tree itself. Trespassing on your neighbor’s property is also a no-no.

The mother of the man who was killed said something yesterday that he was standing on his side of the property line but trimming branches that were hanging over the neighbors’ side of the property.

She also said something about her son “just wanting to scare” the neighbor and possibly that he “swung” something at him... I assume she was talking about the chainsaw. If that is what happened, I think this will turn out to be a case of justifiable self defense.

Thanks for the info. I haven’t read that anywhere - and if that is the case...well, I’d shoot and kill anyone who swung a chainsaw at me too (my husband was almost killed by one after he bobbled it).

>>>The mother of the man who was killed {the victim} said something yesterday that he (the victim} was standing on his side of the property line but trimming branches that were hanging over the neighbors’ {the shooter} side of the property.

She also said something about her son {the victim} “just wanting to scare” the neighbor {the shooter} and possibly that he “swung” something at him... I assume she was talking about the chainsaw. {so her son may have swung a chainsaw at a man holding a gun ???} If that is what happened, I think this will turn out to be a case of justifiable self defense.<<

Someone’s not a “victim” unless it is determined that a crime was actually committed. If it turns out he did something stupid like swinging a chainsaw at his neighbor, and his neighbor shot him in self defense, then he was actually the aggressor, not the victim.

You are, of course correct. In my haste to post, I neglected to search for a better word. My apologies. It's been a long time since I've done any posting. I've been seriously ill for well over a year and am just getting back to Free Republic. I even refreshed my mind on the HTML tags for italics :-)

I suspect that you are right that this may well turn out to be a case of justifiable self defense.

Aren’t you allowed to cut trees pf neighbors when the trees grow over your own property?

Glad you weren’t hurt. Husband was very very experienced with chainsaws - but you can never, ever be too careful. He didn’t tell me about it until much later, but it scared him as well, he could have very easily been killed.

Stay safe, FRiend.

Hi Theodore, yes, at least where I live, you can cut trees that hang over your own property as long as you don’t damage the whole tree. Of course, it would be better if you talked it over with your neighbor first. When we have been in that situation, we have offered to do the cutting ourselves to make sure that our trees are not harmed. The neighbors generally seem to appreciate it.

Once we had a neighbor who complained about a patch of bamboo that was on both sides of the fence. Because they were relatively new, they didn’t know that the bamboo actually started in their own yard. We had no objections to them trying to get rid of it. We had been fighting it for years.

I am under the domestic surveillance which regular America has not yet seen, but which I think it will find out about soon. It is pretty bad. I have the neighbor’s ten year old kid on video in front of my property talking about running follows with another surveillance kid. It is almost like a CIA-version of the Hitler Youth. And they are two of about thirty surveillance kids being apparently run by their parents in the local school, where they are building files on the other kids there. They hung out by me for a while as it was remote, and they apparently want their kids to hang out with each other, so they can talk freely and not have to constantly keep the secret in. And from what I see it is a national program, so it is everywhere. If you have a kid in school, that thing has a file on them.

Once you see it, the operation goes kind of hostile, and tries to put psychological pressure on you, in a lot of ways. And there are a lot of them. Like the Stasi, they have recruited this secret civilian network, of people who look normal but are like citizen informants on the side for some kind of government payout. It may even be why the deficit is so big. They will actually follow you through grocery stores, and mob around you, when you go out.

It took me ten years of seeing it every time I went out to grasp it was even possible the government in America is not that different from the government in East Germany, just it has more money and better tech, and fooled the people better with the lie that even though it was spending all this money, it would never do what other repressive regimes have done in the past.

And sadly America has the same types of citizens who want to have that government approval to spy inside the houses of their neighbors. Probably the most disheartening aspect to me. I miss the America where we were all united.

Now, instead of having to wire in microphones to everyone’s apartments though, like the Stasi did, they can just backdoor Alexas and computer cameras and microphones and cell phones. And the neighborhood crews do. I can say it is 99 percent likely you have had someone within a couple of miles of your house, listening inside it at some point or other as part of an official file-building operation, there is a transcript of something you would never believe could be known to anyone, and you may even have school files, with accounts from grade school, by kids who were reporting to their surveillance parents.

As a result, you will see a lot of cases where neighbors are at odds for no discernable reason to outsiders, but the fact is one neighbor saw the network, and as with me, they picked up the house next door, and moved in to bust balls. I know how crazy it sounds, I was just like you twelve or so years ago. They could, at worst, have small teams they would have to deploy from DC. Not so. They embed it everywhere, in the community.

In my case, I have seen neighbors slip onto my property to cut tree branches, to open up sightlines to my driveway and my house. It is irritating, and you end up with cases where they do it to the wrong guy, and he snaps. I would bet, based just on the tree trimming (why would they care if the branches were outside that fence, and they could not see the neighbor?) that is what this is. And it is why the guy went out with a gun. In the early phases, you will assume, if they went this far, they might be about to take you out. Plus, you are under ridiculous stress, it is all so mindblowing and incomprehensible.

If you know what to look for, you will see it in cases like Stephan Paddock, or this one. These are the guys who snap, but for every one of these, you have probably a few hundred or even a few thousand, like me, or some other Freepers here I have met, who have seen this thing, and just dislike it intruding into their homes to spy on them.

From what I see, it is on a path to exposure though, and I suspect you will hear about it one day. I think they built it too big, and it just can’t hide any more. I guarantee you, when it comes out, this nation will just be horrified. Not even at the government doing it, but at the fact fellow citizens they would have sacrificed for, were just living lives where their whole thing was betraying every other American they happened across for some weird intelligence agency which wanted to control everything.

And I hate to say it, but my own impression is, they see this is coming out, and they are bringing the illegals in to use as some sort of hostile force to try and hold onto power more directly. My guess is many of these illegals were doing this overseas for CIA or something as part of a global version of this it maintains, and they are also able to be given orders. And will be given orders of some kind, if this thing looks about to be exposed and lose control.

The world is so much more Darwinian and Machiavellian than they have told us growing up. And of course it was them telling us it could never, ever happen here, so we would never think America might be like those other places.
