Sen. John Fetterman may be allowed to dress like a slob in the halls of power — but it’s still a capital offense in New York City’s finest restaurants.
Intrepid Post reporter Jon Levine learned that hard truth this week when he crisscrossed the Big Apple’s culinary landmarks wearing Fetterman’s trademark hoodie, gym shorts and sneakers and tried to gain entry...
“He would not be permitted here,” sniffed a maître d at Daniel on the Upper East Side, where a seven-course tasting menu runs $275...
“We have turned away guests for being improperly dressed regardless of their occupation,” she continued.
At famed Le Bernardin, a suited maître d named Julien served up an amuse bouche of stink-eye when The Post arrived.
“No athletic wear,” he said flatly, staring The Post down and denying even a nibble of chef Eric Ripert’s $480 dinner and wine pre-fixe menu....
At the double-Michelin star Jean-Georges near Columbus Circle, no less than four sentinels outside its dining room vetoed The Post’s entry, ending the dream of feasting on the famed $368, 10-course tasting menu that includes caviar salad, king crab and smoked squab.
“Inside we don’t allow shorts,” said one, repeatedly insisting it would be “impossible” to get around the dress code, which also forbids jeans, sneakers and sweatshirts.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s Lady Gaga,” chimed in another.
A third was so stunned by the sartorial sacrilege, she couldn’t even finish her sentence.
“I’ve never had anyone come in dressed like …” New York Post reporter Jon Levine stands dejectedly outside of the restaurant Daniel in New York City
The Post was allowed to use the bathroom...
It wasn’t all bad news for Fetterman.
The Post strode into Nobu and Gramercy Tavern without so much as a peep...

They all would have voted for him though.....
My understanding is that photo was AI generated.
A great idea, though, and I would love to see a few Senators show up unkempt.
even Frankenstein wore a suit coat...
Additionally; the guy from the Post is at least marginally handsome. Senator Lerch is uglier than homemade soap. His public appearances should be seriously curtailed.
I wouldn’t allow Lurch into my eatery, even if he was somehow wearing a tux.
When the JaySixers visited the Capitol to pee on Nanzi’s lap top, NONE OF THEM DRESSED LIKE THAT. They didn’t want to destroy their reputations as Americans.
A Cute bit of journalistic entertainment
If just one airline would enforce a dress code, I’ll bet it would be a huge success. They’d likely attract the finest, most well behaved passengers - while the rest of the slobs fly on the air busses.
I guess this guy's on the outs too.
From whyy.org (the Philly PSB station): "For Fetterman, his signature hoodies and gym shorts were a sign of his recovery."
THAT'S what all this BS is about? You're back in the Senate, Johnny. Put the f'n suit on.
$480 dinner?
So for a party of two, that’ll be 1,000...Pay up stupid!
This proves you can have lots of money, and still be really stupid.
I would love to see the House announce Fetterman is not welcome there in that attire, they unlike the Senate they have standards. LOL
Neither would I.
Why would you want a dress code to get on a flying bus? Good luck with that.
(Has anyone ever asked WHY Fetterman has to dress like that?)
He’s got a basketball 🏀 Jones?
There are lots of restaurants in every city for folks aho don’t want to dress to standards. having standards does not necessarily mean you are snooty. It may be a way to create an environment that makes for a more pleasant experience for everyone. It might be a way to show respect for other patrons.
Demanding people wear a coat and tie to eat your grub is the very definition of snooty. You can create a perfectly fine atmosphere and not worry about how people are dressed. Honestly if you’re paying attention to how the other patrons are dressed, the food probably ain’t that good.
He’s got a bassetball 🏀 Jones.
My favorite restaurants tend to be Itaian delis and pizza joints and rib shacks. But diningisn’t always just about the food. Sometimes a lady likes an excuse to dress up for fine dining, but doesn’t want to look out of place. Wedding receptions ard places where people are expected to dress up, and it doesn’t make them snooty Heck even Scripture requires a proper wedding garment to attend the wedding feast.
