Wow. That really changes my worldview and how I intend to spend the remaining days of my life.

Sheesh. These scientists haven't been paying attention. "Our" moon is hollow and came from outside our solar system...driven here by ETs and parked in Earth orbit.

This changes everything!
They made a mistake when they said it was 4,420,000,000 years old...
Some us were sure it was at least 4,465,000,000 years and 6 minutes and 31 seconds old...
Now they’ve almost got it correct at 4,460,000,000 years old...
Eventually they will get it absolutely correct...

Just my luck. I had 4.47 billion years in the office pool.

Lol. It’s all conjecture. Or just a rounding error.

Wow, the Moon looks young for its age. I would have guessed not a day over 4 billion.
To: Red Badger
A point of interest, the moonβs age, but is it really worth spending lots of grant dollars to find out?

40 million years is more than a rounding error.
Remember that next time somebody says to follow the science.

40 million years, an eyeblink in cosmological time. What we know for fairly certain is that the moon was created sometime between the initial formation of the earth about 4.5 billion years ago and the late heavy bombardment about 4.1 billion years ago.

What? Last *I* heard they believed it was a space ship.

The layer of dust on the moon is only a few inches thick.
The reason Apollo Lunar Lander module had those really large bowls at bottom of each leg was that “science” said the layer of dust would be several feet deep.
That prediction was based on the prejudice that the moon was many millions of years old (or even older).
Imagine the surprise π± when there was no sinkage.
So the moon is not old, old, old. What a strange turn of events./s
To: Red Badger
Why not just make it 100 million? π

40 M years older than was thought before. Or 30, or 47 or 53β¦.
More funding for scientists is needed to get clarity on this vital subject!

Through its Artemis Program, NASA hopes to return a team of astronauts to the moon in 2025.
It’s kind of sad really, I remember a time when it would have been said that “...NASA PLANS...to return.
