All zoos should be abolished.
Just set aside a bunch of land like Yellowstone and let the animals be free.

“Take me in, oh, tender woman (yes, come on in)
Take me in, for heaven’s sake (yes, come on in)
Take me in, tender woman,” sighed the snake

Eastern Diamondback.

I believe the Mojave Rattler is the most venomous in the USA.
South America has plenty of nasty cousins to our rattlers.

Most venomous? Eastern Diamondbacks are the biggest, but the Mojave Green is the worst. It has regular rattler venom plus a neurotoxin like cobra venom.
Very nasty.

The Coral snake’s venom is deadlier.

In the ER we found that most snake bite cases involved ALCOHOL in some way.

Shot a timber rattlesnake this summer off the side of the driveway. Son in law spotted while we were sitting on the deck. We gutted it, tanned the hide and the hide is in a glass framed case on the deck... Good conversation piece.

My dad killed an Eastern Diamondback in the 70s, it measured 75” long. This was in NW FL up in the sandhills.

My wife and I encountered an eastern diamondback rattlesnake while hiking on the Georgia Coast. It was enormous. Maybe it was pregnant or maybe it had just eaten a large animal, but that thing was a foot in diameter.

Fortunately, we were a long way from it and heard it rattling.

I saw it again while riding my bicycle in the same area. I came within about 20 feet of it and got a good look.

It's a monster.

Eastern diamondback isn't the most venomous. Pacific and Green mojaves, and one newly discovered subspecies on some island off costa rica are more dangerous. HOWEVER those are almost rarely encountered.

That being said, its like arguing if is better to be hit by a train, 18 wheeler, or race car at high speeds.
