Can Twitter/X survive with the FR or Subscription model?

I just upgraded to Premium+ on there and it got me wondering if they could survive this way if all these advertisers pull out?

Others have mentioned the late Rush Limbaugh faced a similar boycott but Twitter/X is another level as it's quite a complex system and requires many employees/resources, etc.

With Musk telling advertisers to GFY and warning that X could be killed it seems obvious this situation is critical.

One thing he's launching is an AI assistant called Grok which will tap into Twitter's vast network.

ChatGPT has been hugely successful so maybe this will be a way of surviving without advertisers.

Grok will be available to Premium+ subscribers. Clever.

Another thing he's doing is releasing new features on X all the time. The ability to write and publish Articles is coming next

This might be of interest to some Freepers actually who want to write long-form articles or posts.

This could be a great way to spread the conservative message!

Either way I'm a little worried considering Elon's outburst that Twitter/X could be "killed".

I'm sure it won't as the interviewer points out Elon Musk has significant resources and many plates spinning (I dont know how he does it).

It reminds me of newspapers and the old press "barons" that controlled or ran them.

They would have significant losses but were/are considered influential enough to keep running by beneficial owners/proprietors.

Maybe Twitter/X will be the same for Elon Musk.

Dig deep, Mr. Musk!

As long as I know how to love,
I know I’ll stay alive.
I’ve got all my life to live,
And I’ve got all my love to give,
And I’ll survive.

Itโ€™s all good - the prices of Teslas will increase to cover the costs

I may be wrong, but I read that Musk taking over Twitter has vastly increased the people using it.

Advertisors will never ignore such a large group of eyeballs.

They’re all pulling out ... The big ones Disney, Apple, etc.

The situation is critical from what I heard

Re: Tesla. They’re launching new products this week I think

Good timing!

I don’t think X owned by the world’s richest billionaire will have any financial problems.

I may be wrong, but I read that Musk taking over Twitter has vastly increased the people using it. Advertisers will never ignore such a large group of eyeballs.

It's not just a large group of eyeballs, it's a potentially massive group that the Propaganda Media and the shady companies like Google/Alphabet and Fakebook don't want to advertise to.

Elon Musk needs to have the programmers at X add advertisers where tweet viewers, both registered and unregistered, can select and de-select what types of ads they see. The depth and breadth of advertising would grow exponentially compared to woke agenda companies.

There's a market for "ads" that are really just notifications of new videos released by a webcaster.

There's a market for ads like the new Outlook app does where just two spam emails show up in your "Other" inbox, are deleted on exit, and are replaced with two new ones the next time you open the app.

I wouldn't mind seeing ads along the sides of a tweet that were tailored to me by my own choosing. Adding in anonymity for non-subscribers would increase the ad capabilities and users would welcome them.

I don't want to see a single ad about the NFL, MLB, or any woke sports nonsense. I don't want to see ads for television shows or Hollywood movies. I don't want to see tourism ads for Canada. I don't want to see ads for programmable temperature mattress covers.

I did appreciate the add for the DailyWire's "Lady Ballers" movie. I wouldn't mind ads for LuckyGunner, Palmetto State Armory, Brownells, Dell Computers, tools, Sweetwater, Stewart-MacDonald, Warmoth guitars, upcoming concerts, automobiles by type (for example: RWD with a V-8), men's clothing, etc. I wouldn't mind ads for books by category.

It would be great to be able to click on a category and have ads show up. For example, I'm looking for a sharpening stone set. I wouldn't mind seeing ads for them up until I buy one and then be able to turn off that category until I decide to revisit it. Everything, from nearby carwashes, eateries, and computer software could be in the ad selection menu.

It would also be great to be able to share my category with others so that if it works for me, I can send a code to a friend who can select it and have similar ads come through for them.

Twitter will do just fine. Musk has plenty of money to fill in the gaps, and the advertisers will return, just like they did the last time they walked.

Agreed. Advertisers will leave, find out X is filled with all sorts of comments directed at them (and they can’t respond because Elon will shut down their accounts as terms of their departure), and then come back to jacked up prices to try and quell the hate. That’s my prediction, anyway.

Grok?

No, please.

Heinlein was a great author, but Stranger in a Strange Land was not my favorite.

I dont know if they will return

This is a co-ordinated effort to take him and the platform down.

1. Musk can save money by firing all the Trust & Safety personnel. They're there mainly to placate advertisers, and if advertisers leave anyway, then let's open the floodgates of free speech.

2. I think these tech companies make most of their money from data mining. Tracking users, tracking whose linking into what, etc. That income stream won't change.

Or they can sue for libel if such comments aren't removed. Even if they don't win, they can harass X.

“Heinlein was a great author, but Stranger in a Strange Land was not my favorite.”

That’s OK - The Fountainhead wasn’t my favorite book but I still enjoyed it...

So, what are your thoughts on oatmeal for breakfast???

It’s not Twitter...it’s X. Why is that so hard for the media and people in general.

Oatmeal works, but only after I have baked it with raisins into delicious cookies.

Does that count as a breakfast food?

I’m still banned on Twitter.

I wonder how many conservatives are still locked out...

It’s not about difficult.

Musk can call it anything he wants.

I can still call it Twitter.

Which I still am not allowed to use no matter what the heck I call it.
