Back in the old Soviet days, people were told what they would do as a job in order to get their paltry sum. You did not have to be good at your assignment, but you had to do it anyway. A person knew they would never achieve anything better if they wanted to be excellent at it so who cares?

These people will eventually be made to do something. They won’t be allowed to sit home on their arse as they do now.

The only way to get rid of poverty is getting people working and able to pay their own way

This is what Trump’s policies were doing, especially with minorities. The leftist Dems could not allow this to happen. Self-reliance and self-respect are not what they seek in their voters. Dependence on government money is what Dems want.

“The nearby cities of Cambridge and Chelsea have experimented with similar (anti-poverty) programs . . .”

Well, did the experiment end poverty?

“permanent underclass that reliably votes “D” every time.”

The real physical voter turnout of the underclass is very low.

Of course when “all the votes are counted” after midnight that turns into high voter turnout in “our democracy”.

Thank you for referencing that article millenial4freedom.

"Boston considers guaranteed income program to fight poverty"

If Boston wants to fight poverty, it needs to set its sights higher and do the following.

Boston needs to have another "tea party" by leading the states to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxing and spending that corrupt Congress cannot constitutionally justify, by repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments.

"And once they get people hooked into depending on that income, then they can control the masses by threatening to withhold it."

That's what welfare, SNAP, EBT, etc, etc are.
