Yep. Stroke. Doubt he even knew where he was. It’s all about the money.

Hair

by Gerome Ragni /James Rado /Galt MacDermot

She asked him why
Why I’m a hairy guy
I’m hairy noon and nighty-night night
My hair is a fright
I’m hairy high and low
But don’t ask me why
‘Cause he don’t know
It’s not for lack of bread
Like the Grateful Dead, darlin’
Gimme a head with hair
Long, beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming
Streaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me down to there (hair)
Shoulder length or longer (hair)
Here, baby, there, mama
Everywhere, daddy, daddy
Hair (hair, hair, hair, hair, hair)
Grow it, show it
Long as I can grow it
My hair
I let it fly in the breeze
And get caught in the trees
Give a home for the fleas in my hair
A home for the fleas
A hive for the buzzin’ bees
A nest for birds
There ain’t no words for the beauty and the splendor
The wonder of my
Hair (hair, hair, hair, hair, hair)
Grow it, show it
Long as I can grow it
My hair
I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
Snaggy, shaggy, ratsy, matsy
Oily, greasy, fleecy
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied
Oh, say, can you see
My eyes if you can
Then my hair’s too short
Down to here
Down to there
Down to there?
Down to where?
It stops by itself
Don’t never have to cut it
‘Cause it stops by itself
Oh, give me a head with hair
Long, beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Now won’t you gimme it down to there? (hair)
Shoulder length or longer (hair)
Here, baby, there, mama
Everywhere, daddy, daddy
Hair (hair, hair, hair, hair, hair)
Grow it, show it
Long as I can grow it
My hair (hair, hair, hair, hair, hair)
Grow it, show it
Long as I can grow it
My hair (hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair)
Hair

Sounds like the hair was filled with vermin. If it was uncombable and untreatable it would be cut.

Well, according to the article, they didn’t do it just for the heck of it, they did because they were worried there was a pressure ulcer under it that they couldn’t get to.

“Like the barber asked my dad when he was drafted: How do you want it cut? As he used the electric clippers to bur his head clean!”

Yeah, my marine father told the usual variant of that:
In boot camp, the barber asks the trainee with luxurious hair, “Wow, you have great hair! Would you like to keep yours?” “Why, yes!” is the answer. To which the barber replies, “Here, hold out your hand!”

I’d like to see an Ancestry DNA test on this guy. Looks like a paleface to me.

This is national news?

A man cannot care for himself, because of a stroke.

If his relatives demand special care, at minimum they have to demand it in advance.

Looks like someone is playing the lawsuit lottery.

Appearances really mean nothing. I recall a guy in the Army that was just as white and Caucasian looking as the next guy. But he classified himself as black. Come to find out he was the product of a mixed marriage. His physical appearance favored his white parent. Technically he was 50% black.

We have a new neighbor that has reservation tags on his car, indicating he’s got an Indian percentage high enough to be a tribal member. He looks just as white as any other neighbor.

You can’t tell by appearances.

I also refused to get a haircut during the scam demic because of mask requirement at fantastic sams. My wife put her foot down on that. She got on YouTube and learned how to cut hair and now has been cutting my hair for over 2 years. Buys a lot of gas for my motorcycle not having to pay for haircuts

Exactly
The mans6 had a stroke and cannot take care of himself.
Docs are there to provide necessary care and if his hair is an obstruction to that care, it gets cut off.
If family was so concerned about tribal beliefs, they should take him to a tribal doctor to heal him.

The family looking for big wapum payoff.

***for whom hair is sacred from the moment of birth.***

And that is why scalping was so popular in the past. They used to take several strands, braid it, decorate it with shells as a challenge to their enemies to “COME AND TAKE IT!” The scalplock.

And scalping was popular long before the White Man ever arrived on these shores.

“You can’t tell by appearances.”

That’s why you need the DNA test. :-)

I have pictures of my Dad at the beach with me when I was a baby. When he spent a lot of time in the sun he became very dark. He almost looked like a negro. I also have a picture of his mother who also had dark olive skin and who could have been mistaken for black. He took a DNA test and was 96% southern Italian, no african DNA. My test was very similar. All my grandparents were from Sicily.

Sounds like his shoes should have been placed outside the Teepee.

Did you skip over the medical reason for cutting it was to treat a bedsore on his scalp? Where was his family and tribe when he needed turning so he wouldn’t get a bedsore or wash and comb his hair so it wouldn’t get matted?

Notice a younger picture of him with his beard shaved. Hmm, that proves he’s not too worried about his hair. How many Lakota men shave their faces and clip their ear and nose hairs? Bet Lakota women shave their legs, arm pits and those unsightly randomly springing out upper lip hairs.

Do you wash and comb/brush your hair? ( I am sure you do.)

And if you were unable to do that, who would?

And if it became a tangled mess… what would you do?

I fully respect your desire to wear your hair as you wish. But if you are relying on others to care for you, it is up to you (or your family) to spell that out when you hire them.

If the “state” is going to be asked to care for you, you get “state” care.

Having dealt with the nursing home system for going on two decades, hair care is a BIG deal. But the staff needs specific direction and extra care will require extra costs.

Only sacred with some tribes. Others pulled out most of their heads as did the Mohawks, Iroquois and Pawnees and eastern tribes.

I am reminded of a young Indian man back in 1974, with long hair down in Oklahoma. His pride was his hair. While working on a jacked up auto with the drive shaft turning it got caught and “POP!” No more hair. Last I heard he was wearing a wig.

Long hair is not permitted around any rotating equipment where I have ever worked. Even the American Indians there kept it short or under wraps.
