My wife and I (and our children when they lived at home) have watched this movie every year at Christmas time since forever. I can recall seeing the movie in the theater as a child when it was first released. In my opinion, one of the greatest movies of all time. The leftist elites on the east and left coast hated it. Everyone else, including the Academy Awards (nominated for 10, won 5), loved it.

A great movie, when they knew how to make movies with a story and characters...not too mention some great acting.

Not quite everyone. At least one person who actually knew the VonTrapps walked out of the theatre because the film reversed personalities—Maria was actually a battle-axe and the Captain a soft touch.

It was the first movie that ever screened at the new cinema in my small hometown. I’ve loved it ever since.

Julie Andrews in her prime had an incredible voice. And, she’s not too hard on the eyes either. She was my first love.

Such a great movie: “Frauline, were you this much trouble at the abbey?”

“oh... YES sir... much more!” :-)

One of my all time favorites. Wonderful music. I choke up every him he sings “Edel Weis” even though it bears no relation whatsoever to Austria. I don’t care!

Considering recent events, I wonder how many Democrats will be rooting for the Nazis? To paraphrase their new, favorite slogan: Jew free from the Volga River to the North Sea.

As soon as my ex-wife would put this show on, I’d say, well, I guess I’ll go for a drive. I’ll be back in three hours.

Very romantic, needs not to be completely true, I love the movie.

We are watching it right now. I agree, one of the greatest.
When I was a musician (trumpet) I was in the orchestra at our local junior college, and they did this show one summertime . One of the first shows I did there.
I loved every minute, it brings back great memories.

I haven’t been to a movie theater since 1999. One of the reasons is politics: I refuse to give money to people who hate everything I stand for. The other is that too many movies have become special effects shows as opposed to acting and singing.

“”I will have earworms singing the songs in my head for “”
weeks.”

Is that what they’re called? I’m not going to watch it - have seen it dozens of time and never tire of it but I know what it’s like to get those songs in the brain and never finding the exit. I have Frank Sinatra CD’s on now and that’s what I’ll be going to be with...

Right now - “In the Still of the Night”.......

That’s only 25 years. /s

I haven’t been since 1993, and was because it was some church group outing.

Before that it was Chariots of Fire in 1981.

Starve Hollywood !
