I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the six-hundred-seventy-third day of the war.
Day 673: Dec 28
Today, there are a lot of updates from the Kupiansk direction.
Here, Russian forces continue trying to penetrate Ukrainian defenses all the way to Petropavka in order to collapse the eastern flank and officially start the battle for Kupianks. The toughest clashes, therefore, are taking place around Synkivka.
Today, Russian forces launched a powerful attack on the northern part of Synkivka. As you remember, last time, I told you that Ukrainians conducted a successful counterattack and eliminated the Russian foothold in the northern part of the settlement, so the Russians needed to start all over again.
Prior to conducting a mechanized assault, Russian forces launched an extensive artillery preparation with multiple-launch rocket systems. By the end, Russians also started deploying smokescreens in front of select Ukrainian positions to obstruct the view and prevent crossfire. This is when Ukrainian reconnaissance drone operators understood that it was time to go and search for the Russian assault units. Russian forces use pretty much the same road every time, so there is a lot of destroyed equipment along the way. Finally, the movement was detected near Lyman Pershyi, which Russian use as a jump pad for assaulting Synkivka.
In the meantime, Ukrainian artillery crews started gradually preparing to face Russian forces by shelling the expected line of advancement and correcting the fire. This ensures that by the time the Russians reach the fire pocket, the Ukrainian artillery systems had already corrected their aim and have their guns pointed precisely on the road. And you will soon see this approach paid off.
The assault unit consisted of 2 tanks, 3 armored fighting vehicles, and around 50 troops. The first tank in line had mine-clearing equipment to ensure that the assault unit reached the settlement. That is why it became the target of the highest priority. As the Russian assault unit got close, Ukrainian assault drone operators attempted to hit the tank. Even though the first drone reached the target, the tank did not sustain any critical damage and continued to move forward.
Ironically, the mine-clearing tank was neutralized by a mine. The tank was not destroyed, but it was successfully immobilized before the Russians managed to reach Ukrainian positions. The rest of the vehicles got closer, and it seems like they did not know what to do because they just moved back and forth for some time until the Ukrainian ATGM crew on purpose hit the last vehicle in the column. So, the destroyed tank at the front blocked the way forward, while the destroyed armored fighting vehicle in the back blocked the way back, effectively trapping the remnants of the assault unit. The infantry realized that the vehicles became an easy target an ran towards the trenches in the tree lines to hide from artillery fire. Shortly, the second armored fighting vehicle was damaged by a Ukrainian artillery shell. The tank crew understood that they were next and decided to take a risk and move around the destroyed vehicle though the minefield. Unfortunately for the Russian crew, they immediately exploded on a mine. The damaged by the artillery armored fighting vehicle was somehow still moving, tried to move around as well, and faced the same consequences.
Finally, the unexplainable happens. The fifth armored fighting vehicle that we saw at the beginning emerged from the forest. The reason why they got so delayed or lost in the forest is unknown, as initially, they were all moving together. But what is even crazier is that the driver of the armored fighting vehicle decided to proceed with the assault alone, moved around the damaged mine-clearing tank, and, unsurprisingly, immediately exploded on a mine. The infantry that was sitting on top of the vehicle promptly ran towards the trenches to hide from artillery fire. Unfortunately for Russians, Ukrainians deployed grenade-dropping drones to finish the personnel that survived. The graphic footage released by the Ukrainian fighters from the 14th brigade showed trenches full of corpses.

Russia can’t hide the destruction of their landing ship in Crimea, so instead they fabricate Ukrainian pilot losses (providing no evidence) while lying about their own losses in Crimea.
Russia has no idea how to defeat the Ukrainian military, so they continue to target civilians in Odesa and Kherson. An 83 year old woman on the channel 1420 committed the unforgivable crime of speaking the truth in Russia and her fate at this time is unknown.

Day 673 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets. The invaders are actively using tactical aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.
During the day of December 28, there were 42x combat engagements. The enemy launched 2x missile and 40x air strikes, carried out 33x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential buildings, hospitals and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
VOLYN and POLISSYA AXIS: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. More than 20x settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Klyusy, Leonivka, Buchky (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyna-Buda, Studenok Volfyne, Myropillya, Uhroidy, Ryasne, Popivka (Sumy oblast), Udy, Vovchansk, Mala Vovcha, Budarky, Kamyanka (Kharkiv oblast).
KUPYANSK AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 12x attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). The occupiers launched air strikes near Petropavlivka and Hlushkivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: the adversary conducted no offensives. The occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Nevske, Novolyubivka, Serebryanske forestry (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Kolodyazi, Yampolivka, Siversk, Spirne, Pereizne (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamyanske, Spirne, Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).
BAKHMUT AXIS: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3x attacks of the adversary near Bohdanivka and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy made failed assaults to breach Ukrainian defense. Around 10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivske, Kalynivka, Stupochky (Donetsk oblast).
AVDIIVKA AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 11x enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and 10x more attacks in the vicinities of Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the enemy, with air support, conducted unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Ocheretyne, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast).
MARYINKA AXIS: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinities of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy, conducted 2x failed attacks on Ukrainian positions. The settlements of Hostre, Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka, Kostyantynivka were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
SHAKHTARSKE AXIS: the enemy conducted no offensives. The invaders launched an air strike near the settlement of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The adversary fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Blahodatne, Urozhaine, Makarivka, Rivnopil (Donetsk oblast).
ZAPORIZHZHIA AXIS: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 2x adversary attacks near Robotyne and south of Novodarivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). In that area, the adversary, with air support, made failed attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. More than 20x settlements, including Levadne, Poltavka, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Shcherbaky, Kamyanske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
ODESA operational-strategic group, KHERSON AXIS: the adversary fired artillery at the settlements of Zolota Balka, Tyahynka, Ivanivka, Novotyahynka, Kherson, Sofiivka and Stanislav (Kherson oblast).
The occupiers do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 13x unsuccessful assaults. The attacks were repelled and the enemy suffered significant losses. The Ukrainian troops are holding the line, continue to retain their positions and fire for effect on the enemy.
During the day of December 28, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 17x concentrations of troops, weapons, and military equipment, and 2x strikes on air defense systems of the occupiers.
The Ukrainian missile troops hit 2x concentrations of troops, weapons, and military equipment, 4x artillery systems and 2x ammunition depots of the russian invaders.

During his trip to Donetsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the frontline surgical team of the 59th Military Mobile Hospital of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Northern Region.
The Head of State familiarized himself with the work of the surgical team, which receives wounded defenders from stabilization points of the Lyman and Soledar tactical forces and provides them with medical assistance.
The President presented the orders “For Courage” III class and Princess Olga III class to the medical staff of the surgical group.
“Thank you for everything you do, for bringing our boys and girls – our warriors – back to life. I wish you good health because your mission requires a lot of strength and good health,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, addressing the military medics.
The President also spoke with the injured servicemen undergoing treatment there and presented them with state awards.
“Thank you for fighting so bravely. Congratulations on the holidays. I wish you a speedy recovery. Victory in the coming year!” the Head of the State said.

During his trip to Donetsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the advanced checkpoint of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Corporal Marko Bezruchko, staying in Avdiivka.
The Head of State received a briefing from the brigade’s commander, Hero of Ukraine Mykola Chumak, on the operational situation in the area and the course of defensive actions. According to the brigade commander, Russian invaders show no mercy to people, but our defenders are holding their positions firmly and even capturing enemy soldiers.
The President spoke with the soldiers, expressing gratitude for their high combat spirit. The Head of State inquired about the primary needs of the military, with a frequent mention of the necessity for personnel replenishment and electronic warfare equipment. At the same time, the fighters said that the supply of drones has significantly improved in recent times.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also presented state awards to the defenders of Avdiivka. In particular, Junior Sergeant Ihor Tymoschuk received the order of the Golden Star from the President, and was honored with the title of Hero of Ukraine. The junior sergeant personally plans, directs, and participates in assault operations. Groups under his leadership have repeatedly destroyed enemies, captured enemy soldiers, and regained control of positions. Thanks to the successful restoration of lost defensive positions, Ihor Tymoschuk prevented the enemy from breaking through to Avdiivka, ensuring the retention of a crucial line for the country’s defense.
President Zelenskyy awarded Senior Lieutenant Yevhen Baikov with the “Cross of Military Merit.” Additionally, Zelenskyy presented the orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III class and the Order “For Courage” III class.
“I have the honor today, with our team, to be here in Avdiivka to thank you for your service and to award you. You are strong people. Thanks to you, we have Ukraine, our land, our relatives, and loved ones. I want to congratulate you on Christmas, on the New Year, and thank you on behalf of the entire Ukrainian people for the year you endured. The whole country endured because of you and because of people like you,” the President said.
The Head of State wished the defenders and their families good health and strength.
“Victory is definitely awaiting us. I am confident in each of you. Thank you for your service!” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
In addition, for the safety of the personnel, the President handed over awards to be presented to military personnel in their locations.
