Yarborough is one of the most successful NASCAR drivers ever with 83 Cup Series wins and three championships. Yarborough won those championships in three straight seasons from 1976-78 as he amassed 28 wins and 70 top-five finishes over 90 races in that span.

My mom could easily find his car on her 11” b&w tv.
I started watching as a kid back in the early 1980s and finally quit back around 2008 or so. Stages, political correctness, introduction of Toyota, new cars that are more like the Australian Supercars(no offense to Australia as that is an interesting series especially the vintage stuff). It just sucks now. Period.
we get reruns of old nascar races going back a great many years now- i do watch those- but not the new races- I switched to F-1 but even that is going pretty woke these days
He was one of my favorites. Too bad NOOSECAR went woke.
oh i know- i absolutely hated the stages- just race, and whatever happens happens- that really ruined the sport for me
After being a fan for 40 years that was the last race for me.
“NASCAR has gone Woke and it’s hard to recognize it now, all the drivers sound the same.”
Now they have pukes who whine about door pulls they fancy as KKK intimidating mini nooses...and believe it!
I stopped watching when they quit using stock cars.
I loved Memorial Day Weekend, wake up and watch the F1 race from Monaco, then the Indy 500, followed up by the NASCAR race in Charlotte.
Don’t they have 3 F1 races in the USA now, Miami, Texas and Las Vegas.
Yep- that did make a difference for sure- and not for the better
“..My interest began to fade when Dale Earnhardt Sr. died...”
Yep. You, me and probably thousands of others just like us.
Once he was gone, the racing was over for me.
What NASCAR has become today is nothing but a “woke joke”.
Didn’t back around the early 70s, didn’t NASCAR have the Plymouth Superbird with the big spoiler on the back, I always thought that was a badass car.
They always used to have a cool production pace car of some sort. Have no idea about now.
i know- The woke crowd just had to ruin it all- everything they touch turns to crap=- Charlotte was one of my favorite tracks- such a grueling race too- used to be fun to watch- not so much anymore-
Yes i believe so- The oval tracks are ok, but I like the street courses better for F-1- The Indy Track for indy cars is not really oval, but is a tricky track to drive- despite not having sharp corners and such- but Texas and Las Vegas are to me, just too oval for my taste for F-1
doh- what a brain fart i just did- forget my ‘oval discussion for F-1’s’ above- my brain aint working right-
When Jeff Gordon retired from Nascar, so did I. I like to watch the races on Monday mornings on YouTube ... the whole race in 15 minutes.
Well, that sucks.
Dale Jr interview with Donnie Allison about that race. Really good story teller.
