“According to the article, because of his previous convictions he was “barred from possessing firearms.” So can someone please explain to me how this happened????”

It happened due to a lack of proper gun control laws, you silly.

Other than a few states, the death penalty has become ineffective as a deterant anyway.

My state has it and the average stay before execution is almost 15 years.

Having served in my church’s prison ministry I visited death row inmates once or twice.

A couple of them have been there for 30+ years.

I think Japan has it right....the order for execution, notifying the inmate and the actual execution all happens on the same day......so the inmate does know his time is up until the day it is.

In the past headlines were clear and informative - even if they were witty and from a paper like this one.

But it’s not just headlines today - real journalism and journalistic writing have all been lost.

Wisconsin doesn’t have the death penalty

Of course it does, it's just for the Decent Honest Citizens and the State it's self.

Convicted felon who shot dead newlyweds in sports bar...

He pro'ly meant Convicted felon who shot newlyweds dead in sports bar...

There is not much sense in shooting dead newlyweds.   Well, unless it is some kind of Quentin Tarantino film, I guess.

Thanks for serving. I’m sure you’ve made a difference more than once in a Life Gone Wrong. :)

We have a family friend that was in prison for seven years. He was involved in a freak accident where a motorcyclist got between his truck and the trailered boat that he was hauling.

The guy on the motorcycle died. All the stars had to align for that accident to happen. It truly WAS an accident in every sense of the word.

But, L. had been drinking out on the water that day, so he was charged with a DUI, though in reality the accident wasn’t his fault. He manned up and took responsibility, though.

Mom wrote him letters for all of those seven years. She is a SAINT!

Anyway, he’s out now and SOBER and back with his fiance (and dog!) who also stuck by him all those years.

Not everyone that’s in prison is a monster. Some freaky thing like this could happen to any of us. :(
