It seems that the public and in particular the searchers are being played the fool by the police. Many details which could and should have been released have been concealed by the police, and for no apparent purpose, or facts have been deliberately distorted.

The public can do a lot to assist the police, but not if they are deliberately given the wrong scent. In addition to locating the victim or identifying and locating the perp, the public can furnish information which links the perp to the crime (i.e., evidence).

Think of the guy who spotted Gary Condit disposing of the watch box. He would never have known that what he was seeing was at all significant had he not been given information about the investigation.

Has there been no public outcry in SLC about this? Or does the public assume the police have their man, so no one is worried about the kidnapper striking again?
