As I recall, the LAST time they raised the toll was an attempt to get people to carpool, since they said there was TOO MUCH traffic on the bridge. THIS time, they are saying there's NOT ENOUGH revenue i.e. not enough traffic, so NOW they have to raise the toll to make up for it.

The inmates now run the asylum.

Charging a toll to pay for the bridge (construction, operation, maintenance) is just. Charging a toll to pay for busses and ferry service is unjust (to be blunt, it's theft).

Socialist madness takes its toll.

I agree.

Charging a toll fee is perfectly fine. The ones that use the bridge to cross pay the fee, while people that do not use the bridge do not pay the fee.

Coercing taxpayers to pay for mass transportation in the form of bonds is bad. Some of these taxpayers would never use mass transportation.

Question -- is that $5 only collected one way, or do you have to pay it both ways on the bridge? The reason I ask is because $5 total is cheap compared to New York, where the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is $7 -- of course, the toll is only collected one way, but still.

Coming up next - a toll hike on the other bay area briders to pay for the huge ferry system that these dreamers want to build. Won't do most of us who drive a bit of good - we'd still need to drive to the ferry landing, a good 15 miles or so, then take a bus to where we need to go, if such a bus exists, which it likely doesn't. So, here we go - making people who drive subsidize the socialist dreams of the elitists.

I heard that mentioned on Fox about how expensive bridge tolls run in NY. What I was wondering is how much does parking costs on average? Do you know? It seems that one would need to make a lot of money to live in NY,or SF for that matter, simply because you are getting nickled and dimed to death for basic everyday things. There is nothing wrong with having a toll if it goes for bridge maintence although I doubt all the money collected is earmarked for that pupose. It would seem that a lot would make it into the general public coffers

Parking is out of control in New York as well. My office pays for my parking in Manhattan, but if I had to pay it out of pocket, it would be $200 a month. You are right about being nickeled and dimed to death -- the cost of living is why I live in one of the outer boroughs instead of Manhattan!
