Good golly, how did I misspell Liza? More coffee over here!

The flight attendants who stopped Richard Reid from blowing up an airplane with his shoe bomb tell their story:

"I thought, He's smoking," Moutardier recalls. "It got me mad. I was talking to him, saying, 'Excuse me,' but he just ignored me. I leaned in and said, 'What are you doing?'"

As she pulled at him, he turned, giving her a glimpse of what he was hiding. What she saw terrified her.

"He's got the shoe off, between his legs. All I see is the wiring and the match. The match was lit," she says.

Twice she grabbed him, twice he pushed her away, the second time so hard she fell against an armrest across the aisle. I'm going to die, she thought. Time

My sis works for Riverside Co. Jails and courts. Think I'll give her a call or email her and ask her about Ms. ROSE. Seems she has a drinking and drug problem too.My question is this. If she has been married 5 X's and has a drug and alcohol problem. Why do men keep marring woman like her and having children with them? I know! I Know! She pretty, young, thin, with fake boobies and blond?

My grass is brown and crunchy. We have been on water restriction all summer

Ours looked like that a couple of weeks ago after we got back from vacation. There had been no rain and the temps had been in the high 90's, and this is MA! We had been in FL for two weeks and the temps there were cooler at the beach! In the last week we've had a couple a days of really good soaking rains, so the yard is greening up a bit. Now I have to MOW it!

The kids start school tomorrow

Yep, ours do too! The full schedule anyway. They've both been doing math all summer long, and our daughter has been finishing up the first semester of U. S. History so she could get a high school credit for it even though she was technically still in 8th grade! When she finished the work on Saturday, we celebrated with ice cream sundaes!

Now the teacher (that's yours truly) has to do their work schedules so when they've completed an assignment, they can go right on to the next one. That way, they can move through the material at their own pace. They like that a lot! For me, one of the neat things about homeschooling is that we don't have to get up early!!

I thought about home schooling, but there are "so many" factors involved. Sending the boys to school is a better deal right now.
They moved in with us in May. We don't have any neighbors with children and I think it would be good for the boys to find some friends to play with. It might also help them not think about all the stuff that is going on in NC.

Homeschooling is not possible for everyone! Even we only got into it last year when our youngest two were in 6th and 8th grades. I never felt I could do it, but when our daughter started having difficulties socially which affected her academic performance, I decided that we'd just have to do it. I'm fortunate in that I'm a stay at home Mom and had the opportunity. We'd thought about it with our older two, but again, I never felt confident in my abilities. I didn't know anyone who was homeschooling then, but I didn't go out searching either, so we never did it.

I would never dream of belittling anyone for not choosing homeschooling! As I said, it took me a while to get there myself, and some folks just don't have the means. That's why school vouchers are SO important. They allow the parents to have some say in their kids' education which they would normally NOT have.

Thanks for the ping, Teacup, and happy labor day to you too!

In keeping with the name of the day if not the spirit, I'm going to be working my tushie off trying to catch up on stuff that slid while I had the houseguest from hell here for two dreadful weeks. She was a neighbor of mine 10 years ago in FL and we had a lot of fun then, tho she's 17 years older than moi, but she's become a bitter old lady and I listened to nothing but complaints for two weeks. Including complaints about me and everything I did, said, or thought, including the way I make OATMEAL....Sheesh! The one thing you cannot make wrong.

I maintained civility 100%, remembering my mother's instructions to behave well in bad situations, which would entitle me to "stars in my crown in heaven." After the last two weeks, my crown is gonna short-circuit the universe, believe me. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the sanctuary of my own home again....reminds me of the old tv show that ended with "control of your set is now returned to you." Grumble, grumble.

Truer words were never spoken. Real school choice could force education to change in order to survive.

For a two-week house guest to criticize her hostess' cooking is downright tacky. If it were up to me, I'd vote for a few jewels to be added to your crown.

Many thanks, mountaineer. Not that I'm absolutely certain of a crown, you understand. But jewels are great anyway.

Thanks for recognizing all of us as working women.

We went exploring about an hour from our new home today. Trying to figure out where things are and what we have gotten ourselves into! However, I can't help but think about the fact that today is the last day of the county fair we always went to back in WA this time of year. In fact, we've been there every year for the last 13 years - but not this time.....sniff. I think homesickness is starting to sink in and we've only been here 4 weeks.

You haven't 'seen' me much because we made the move this summer. The deed is done. We went over 3,000 miles to the other side of the country.

While I look forward to casting my vote for Jeb Bush here in FL, I feel very alone here. We have no family and no friends in this new place. Gee....you'd think that this old Air Force brat would have learned to cope with all this from her first two decades of life, eh? I know it will get better, but right now it seems almost unreal.....

I'm sure you will be making new friends soon. In the meantime, you could do some survelince work for us,,,, go to the bingo parlors in Miami/Dade and count how many cards those old biddies are working at one time. I'll never forget this one ole gal, with big hair and glasses, who swore she just couldn't understand how to work the ballot. If you could find here, I'll bet she'd be working at least 6 cards per game.

I am back and so tired. Blisters on the feet and sunburn. It was a very hot day.

I passed out stickers for the governor candidate at 2 parades. That guy can really run. I found out on my ride home that everyone at the parade thought that I was the lt governor's wife because I was wearing a dress and everyone else was in jeans and T shirts. I also think people thought I was his wife because I would be about 10 feet in front of him passing out stickers.

It's really interesting. I was at a private party on my lake on Thursday, and someone came up to me and ask which politician's wife I was. Really weird.

I really like the Lt Governor. He is a pretty good looking guy, and a true gentleman.
