The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Morning g'nad. Between watching the live thread and daylight savings, I'm a little out of this morning.

Morning everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I am closer than ever to having a new front landscape (not close enough though) and I had 2 sets of friends from home show up to visit!!! A surprise visit Saturday and a planned visit Sunday! That was fun.

Corin, you forgot Eowyn!

re: Printers - we have a Lexmark combo deal - printer/scanner/copier - all for $150. It's not too bad for the price.

I'd prefer a lazer jet any day of the week, but for what we use it for, it's adequate.

How's everybody been?

My bad. I was in a hurry.

Wasn't thinking when I mentioned printers last night. It needs to be multi-function 'cause we use it for fax too. Going looking tonite. Any and all recommendations welcome.

Oh yeah, the Lexmark we have faxes too, if you have a dedicated line.

It's the X-73 model, if you want to check it out at www.lexmark.com

Thanks. I'll look at it. Yeah, we have a dedicated line that we used to use for the net and for faxing. Since we've gone cable we just use it for faxes.

We had twenty minutes to get out the door to church - and we didn't make it.

Oh, I feel a bit better now! I forgot, too. Didn't remember until I was pulling into the parking lot and people were obviously almost ready to LEAVE instead of just coming in! There wasn't anything I could do about it at that point, but I spent the afternoon feeling a bit guilty...

Lance Cprl Todd Gehrke, 27, entertains fellow Marines with his tin whistle as they ride in an amphibious assault vehicle.

Cool picture, though I'm not sure the other Marines look entertained... ;-)

Oops. you are getting my April showers then. I'm not used to the new rain habits here. We don't get as much here. I can compensate for that. BUT, the trouble is, when we do get it, it all comes in about 5 minutes and runs off. So you get no good soakings. :-( learning to garden in weirdness.

Okay, the visit with Sean was awesome! You did a great report. Definitely not too long of a post. You can do a longer one the next time.

We're actually getting SNOW today, if you can believe it. Forecast is for 6-10 inches in the northern end of the state, 4-8 down the southern end where I live.

In April, no less!

I'm so totally DONE with winter!

So how well do those All Devourer (Mantis') really work? I've looked at them thoughfully. Would I like one just for doing yard tilling? I used to borrow my dad's Troybilt when I lived in the country for tilling a quarter acre, but now, it's only beds on a residential lot.

Hi and good morning everyone!

Hair - I am simply green with envy!! Thanks for the report - I closed my eyes after reading it and pretended I was there. Now THAT's something I *swoon* for! Especially your description of his clothing. Mmmmmm...talk about your "hobbit dreams"!

OK *slapping myself* - on to breakfast!

Pancakes and maple syrup with scrambled eggs, 4 platters of bacon and fried ham strips. Home fries and buttermilk biscuits are on the table in the covered baskets. Coffee is hot and juices are chilled! ENJOY!!

I've been so busy with the kids that I haven't had a chance to watch much FOX News. I heard we stormed Baghdad last night! Our soldiers are just TOO COOL!
