Great Colin Powell quote.....

Powell Quote...(not sure when this happened)
When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.
He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return."
It became very quiet in the room.

How erie! I was just thinking about this story a little earlier. It is, indeed, a great quote.

I think Colin Powell is a man of great integrity.

How true. Any moron can look at a globe and see that there is no vast American Empire. Hmmm...sounds like "A Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy", doesn't it?

However, we will make no more sacrifices for the ungrateful nations, such as France and Germany.

Good for Powell. I was annoyed with his 'good cop' routine in the UN but he IS after all the SoS. And he was willing and able to admit when he was wrong and come around.
Powell still has a shot at being president one day if he's not too old in 2008.

The last war where we really got anything in terms of land was the Spanish American War, and we gave back most of the spoils (Cuba).

As an Episcopalian, the Arch Bishop of Canterbury is a disgrace to our religion.
God Bless SOS Powell for this comment, we should print it and carry it in our billfolds. My new tag line deals with these pro communist/islamofacists so called Christian Leaders.

I believe Powell's approach was strategized by the Administration. He probably brought a lot of people into the fold who trusted him, rather than Bush.
Now these people are behind Bush too. Good strategy.

This so called religious leader is silent when his anti semetic priests and bishops say terrible things about the Jews and Israel.
