Will W. go to Tornado Alley? It would be nice to comfort those people who have been devastated by nearly 300 tornadoes (Quayle spelling?) in a short period of time.

He visited Arizona last year during the state's worst-ever forest fire. Democrats criticized him for showing up then.

Fox News on their half time news report just said he was going to visit some counties that were hit. They did not say
exactly where he was going.

tpaine and OWK need to 'weigh in on this' ...
My thought: He's *already* approved aid - does he now need to visit and 'micro-manage' the situation in your opinion?

Klinton must have set a record going to disasters. For awhile I thought he had the Air Force seed clouds so there would be floods and storms. You couldn't swing a dead cat at a disaster without hitting him in the head.

From Lt. Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson's Dereliction of Duty, Regnery Publishing, 2003, pp. 74-75:
"His cynicism never ceased to astound me. In February 1998, for example, President Clinton and the staff decided to visit a tornado-ravaged area of Florida. We did an 'I feel your pain' helicopter flight over and around the areas so that the president could survey the damage in which forty people were killed.
Colonel Ron Berube, the commander of the Marine One squadron and Presidential Marine One pilot, flew from one area of destruction to another, giving President Clinton and his senior staff a running commentary. He went to great lengths to plan the flight route and position the helicopter so that the president could get a real sense of the damage. The military aide had maps out to show the president just where they were and the extent of the devastation.
The president, however, was busy playing a game of hearts with his pals White House counsel Bruce Lindsey and press secretary Joe Lockhart. He couldn't be bothered--not even to look out the window occasionally. When it was time to align Marine one with the press helicopter for a picture, the president quickly peered out the window, feigning an interested and grief-stricken expression. the sole reason for the trip, in his mind apparently, was for that photograph..."

Bizarro, _jim baby...
'WHY' do you think OWK & I need to comment on what essentially is a non-event?
Tornados happen. Life goes on. Politicians do what they gotta do.

'WHY' do you think OWK & I need to comment on what essentially is a non-event?*Your* fellow 'citizens' are crying for this 'gov't attention' - EDUCATE THEM.
DO YOU KNOW WHY the fed gov't pokes it's very NOSE into all facets of YOUR life - it's BECAUSE of 'outcrys' like this.
HERE'S your chance to *SHINE* and elucidate WHY this is a bad idea from a Libertarian POV and you seem to have FAILED.

If the dems make an issue of it, I think I have a DM Register with a photo of X42 with his arm around a woman who's home was washed away during the flood of '93. Remember when he visited Des Moines hampering the clean up efforts.
To: rvoitier
The plural is "tornadoes." That bothered me for awhile, but the other day, the NWS statement said "tornadoes," so I am pretty sure that is correct.
