In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Good Morning Students. Welcome to class!

Class is now in session. The rules are simple; you get a grade if you use the WFTD in a sentence, haiku, limerick, or quatrain. You get a "+" if you make a link, or make the teacher laugh, or you offer the appropriate bribes. I hold the grade book; the whip and chair.

As Germany's economy stagnates, some say answer could be more work, fewer holidays and vacation days By David Mchugh, Associated Press, 8/10/2003 13:28
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) At age 30, and with three years seniority, Holger Bettenhausen figures his typical German allotment of 28 days paid vacation will just about enough meet his needs.

Oh good grief. You know, once upon a time the German machine was a force to be reckoned with, notw though, it a socialist nanny state. Does it not occur to these brilliant people that if you work hard, then your business will survive and then you can actually enjoy holidays? What happens when, with all the vacations and whatnot, that the business' fail? These idiots will probably go, "Oh the government will support me." and carry on about their insanity. Don't they realize this is why their taxes are so high? Or do they just surmise that as long as it doesn’t really affect them, they're golden?

Their country is turning into a cesspool, with the people being cared for from cradle to grave. There is no individuality here, no sense of accomplishment, just the growing blanket of entitlement. They will bankrupt their country into the dark ages, and then scream for rescuing from us. /disgusted rant

As Germany's economy stagnates, some say answer could be more work, fewer holidays and vacation days

Early to bed, early to rise
Work like hell, don't you surmise
will lower your taxes, increase your pay
And make German economy, bright, happy and gay!

Is it really morning, or am I having a real sad, lucid, dream? I surmise you're correct, but it doesn't really brighten prospects for the day.
