Posted on 08/15/2003 5:07:19 AM PDT by RikaStrom

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

nates \na*tez\, plural noun

1. The buttocks.
2. The two anterior of the four lobes on the dorsal side of the midbrain of most mammals; the anterior optic lobes.
3. The umbones of a bivalve shell.

The democrats will find that their plethora of piffle will come to bite them on the nates. Of course, those blissoming bullies will become anorchus amoebas when they're trumped and tromped in the edifying election.
--Rika Strom, WFTD Teacher, 2003

Etymology: [Latin nat s, pl. of natis, buttock.]

Did they just abandon their cars, or were those the people who didn't have cars?

Probably people without cars in the city. When I took a cruise around Manhattan on the Circle Lines, the guide said something along the lines of (I don't remember the exact numbers) "every day 2 million commuters come to Manhattan for work where there are 200 thousand parking places; you do the math." Like I said, I don't remember the exact numbers, but the point was that the VAST majority of people working in Manhattan came into work by means other than their automobile.

Ahhh, I wouldn't know, you see I live in a HUGE city that hasn't got mass transportation. We have to have cars. ;-)

southwestern CT is lined with RR stations (Metro North) where the main business is commuter trains to NYC. it's a big thing the closer to the city one gets.

I happen to be on the other side of the state, so Metro North doesn't come up this far.

...hillary blamed W and the VRWC for the blackouts and asked "what did the president know and when did he know it" yet? Do her nates move when she talks or is she a ventriloquist?

LOL!!! I'm not going to try to top that one. Brilliant!

I particularly liked this line:

"The Colorado senators said Bush's chief political strategist, Karl Rove, orchestrated the redistricting effort in Colorado, as Texas Democrats contend he is pushing the issue in Texas".

"Paranoia will destroyaaa".

Gotta hit and run, but I had to comment that your WFTD seems particularly appropriate for commando Friday, Miss Rika.

Hopefully there will be photographs posted when I return. :)

I can't believe I am about to say this....but Bloominidiot is holding his own with the questions from the press.

He has actually been doing a decent job.

Now I'm going to go take a shower to cleanse myself.
