FReepers, please join me in welcoming AZ Flyboy's new daughter,

Piper Louise Ruth

to our FReeper family.

Az Flyboy's daughter, Piper Louise Ruth (unless they change their minds!) was born at 10:58 AM MST on October 9th, 2003. Mom, daughter, and Dad are all doing quite well. Piper has everything she’s supposed to have, and nothing we can see that she shouldn’t have! Her lungs are in excellent shape! She is just less than an hour old in these pictures.

At birth she weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz., and measured 20½ inches long. Look how she is trying to check out Grampa!

Grandma and Grandpa HJ are holding little Piper...look at that tiny hand.

Her cheeks are just sooooo soft!

Piper loves her Mommy's daddy, too. Daddy's are really special people, you know!

Mommy's Mommy makes me smile...she's soft and cushy.

Grampa, that light is bright!

Okay, I can see out of one eye, now. Let's see if I can get the other one open.

Mommy's Mommy is wearing something blue...it's almost the same color as my eyes.

Ok, now I'm in Grandma HJs arms...she makes me want to snuggle down and go to sleep.

Grandma HJs finger is almost as long as my face!

Guess what color my hair is! Oh, you can't see it under my yellow cap. It's black!

Grandma HJ is really cushy, too. I hope she holds me a lot when I get home with Mommy and Daddy!

Ok, I'm going to stay in the hospital with Mommy and Daddy one more day. Mommy has Strep B thingies running around her body, and the nurses want to make sure I don't have them, too. I don't think I do, so I'll get to go home tomorrow.

Brad's Gramma...Grampa told me you two had a conversation a few days ago...did you know my Great-Grandma Palumbo went to be with God two years ago, today? I think she's the reason I made Mommy go to the hospital last night. She really loved her daughter and Daddy's Daddy. She must have wanted me to come down and make sure they were still happy...what do you think?

Many many thanks for all the kind words and prayers from all the gallant FReepers!

Beth, Piper and I are all home now. It's a little after noon on Friday. The baby's doctor told us that she is as perfect as can be. Beth and I are pretty tired (moreso her than me), but it's much easier being at home.

Thanks again to everyone. I'll try and keep you posted as things develop. So far, we've gotten the first smile, the first wailing session, the first big burp, the first really dirty diaper (oh yeah, I found that little surprise...), the first car ride, and a few other firsts that never really seemed relevant or important until now!

As a last thought...what should her FR name be?

Piper has adjusted to being home very nicely. Last night was our first relatively easy night. Piper had her typical wakings, but it wasn't until 4:00AM until she had some gas that we just couldn't get rid of. Poor thing was hiccuping like mad! After trying to burp her in every safe position I know, I went to lay her back down in the cradle to look through one of our books when she let out a burp that woke up her Mommy!!!

I'll be sure and keep you up to date as things progress. Everyday is something new, so I'll have plenty to write about!

Alas, I have found the thread and want to say, how very beautiful she is.


I remember so well my first grandchild. WHOO HOO!
It as a grandson. I walked on air for days.

Piper seems more beautiful with each passing day. When our first child was born, I didn't think life could get any better. With the coming of his child, I find I was quite wrong!
