Yes there is. The key, and it is essential, is to having a Democrat run in the race as well. The Democrat and Jeffords will split the 60% left-wing vote, and the GOP candidate can win with 40%. How could this work?

1. Isolate a few "Democrat unfriendly" votes Jeffords has cast which suggest he is not a "good Democrat".
2. Find an aspiring Democrat politician who seeks to truly represent their party in the US Senate.
3. Back-door finance his/her candidacy the same way that the GOP did for Nader in 2000 (partially) and 2004.

Vermont is not a big state. It has 600K people. Yet that one Senate seat counts the same as any other. With a modest sum of money, this could be orchestrated and make the seat competitive.

The key would be to "inform" registered Democrats that they have a "real" choice to vote for a "Real Democrat" not a free agent like Jeffords. Then rally the Republican faithful to outpoint the divided Left. It's a longshot, but it's worth trying.
