Lt. Gov. Mary Fallin won an easy victory for the Republican nomination for the 5th District congressional seat on Tuesday, defeating Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett in a run-off primary.
Fallin had 26,744 votes, or 63.1 percent, and Cornett had 15,665 votes, or 36.9 percent. The mayor conceded with a little more than two-thirds of the vote counted.

This is good news, and Fallin has the makings for a good Congressswoman and perhaps a future candidate for the U.S. Senate.
Well, had we not run the inept Steve "Elian should go back to Papa Fidel" Largent in '02, with a push from Frank Keating, Mary Fallin might've succeeded him as Governor. She seems more Gubernatorial material (after 8 years as #2) than Senatorial, so unless Ernie Istook pulls off a miracle, perhaps in 4 years she'll be a strong contender.
