The Battle in TX-14
Red State ^ | February 9, 2008

Ron Paul is fighting for his political life down in Texas-14. Having failed to gain any traction in his Presidential bid except among a lose cadre of fringe anti-war allegedly libertarian voters, he has had to suspend his campaign two days after appearing at CPAC.

Ron Paul is racing back to his district to battle back against Chris Peden, the Mayor Pro Temp of Friendswood, Texas.

You know, having spent the past year bashing Jews, Republicans, the military, and the United States, it's great to see Ron Paul forced to flee the field.

I think Chris Peden might could use some money to keep up the fight against the anti-war movement's favorite Martian.

So he’s suspended his presidential campaign to run for his House seat? Is there another source besides this blog to confirm this?

“So he’s suspended his presidential campaign to run for his House seat?”

I haven’t seen any evidence of that yet.

It would be payback if an upstart real Pub in that district beat Paul after he has dissed the military, dissed Pubs, Bush, every other Pub pol. Sorry, but this dinosaur is not worth saving. He would be better going to a liberal university and try to actually teach the Constitution to moronic leftists and that might actually make up for his wasted time in discombobulating the primaries.

Regardless of what one may think of him, Ron Paul can legally run for both Congress and President at the same time, since it is permitted under Texas law, I have been told. I hope he does drop out of the presidential race ASAP and concentrates on retaining his congressional seat.

BTW, is Chris Peden a Republican or ‘Rat?

And could you explain the comment about “bashing Jews”? (I know it may not be yours, since it came from a blog.)

His speech...He announced he was scaling down campaign on 8 February 2008.

With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so

I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no 3rd party run. I do not denigrate third parties—just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen."

Just like I think McCain should give up his senate seat to run for president.
