This is good news. Does anyone know who those two state Senators are? Perhaps a southern Freeper can find out.

No idea. But we need someone who hails from the rural part of the district. We lost it because we nominated a suburban Memphis Mayor. He wasn’t a bad candidate, but this was solely a rural vs. suburban battle.

I found the full article. The two state Senators are Alan Nunnelee and Merle Flowers.

Nunlee hails from Tupelo, while Flowers is from Southhaven, the suburban Memphis community that Childers’ last opponent was from.

We need a Tupelo (rural based) candidate, so Nunnalee would be better.

I’ve heard of Flowers but not Nunnelee. The rats actually took back the MS Senate in 2007. Unfortunate.

I agree we should run Nunnelee. The Memphis burbs are as much a part of this district as any other but if those rural folks won’t vote for someone from there against fauxcon Childers well that’s that, this is a must win.

We haven’t actually won the MS Senate at a general election, only via party switches, which can be tricky. We had that happen in TN in ‘95, but the Senate reverted to the Dems at the next election so we never had working control of it. It took until 2007 before we obtained working control.

More than likely with the growth of the Memphis suburbs that district will shrink in area until a lot of the outermost rural areas end up in an adjacent district, although that may not be until 2023. The rural areas of the 1st can still outvote the suburbs.

DeSoto County has grown from 107,199 people in 2000 to 154,748 in 2008. Absolutely Nuts...

That’s all the sane people fleeing King Williestan on the Tennessee side of the border. White folks and middle & upper class Blacks vote with their feet.
