GOP lawmaker blasts radio's John & Ken: "Wanna-bes" who can't get elected
SFGate: Politics Blog ^ | 4/13/9 | Carla Marinucci, Chronicle Political Writer

Republican State Senator Abel Maldonado isn't mincing words: he says that "hyper-partisan" events like Tea Parties and recall rallies being pushed by radio stars like KFI's John & Ken are a glaring example of a disturbing trend -- a rise in entertainment-driven, ratings-driven political gimmicks that don't provide real solutions for voters.

"It's crazy. While my state melts and burns, these folks are making money selling ads,'' Maldonado told the Chronicle. "All they care about is money in their pocket.''

Maldonado last week launched his efforts with the Reform for Change Committee, to push for Prop. 1F -- which would cut off pay for legislators if the state has a budget deficit. He's also pushing hard for the open primary, which is expected to go before the state voters in 2010 -- and he says John & Ken are the partisan poster boys who dramatize why it is needed in California.

The team, he noted, devoted considerable radio time to the effort last week pushing recall papers on GOP State Assemblyman Anthony Adams of Hesperia, one of six Republican lawmakers who voted to support the state budget.

Former state GOP chair Mike Schroeder -- accompanied by about a dozen followers -- took part in the live-on-radio show, delivering the recall papers to Adams. "Let the games begin,'' Schroeder said.

But an angered Maldonado, who attended the fundraiser in support of Adams starring Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last week, argued that while recalls are "just games to these people,'' they cost taxpayers millions and critical resources to boot.

There are things called elections, he said, that allow taxpayers the final say on a legislator's future.

Senator Abel Maldonado is the oldest son of immigrant field workers. Like many other immigrants, his father came to this country with little more than the shirt on his back.

From his bio page. I wonder if Abel ever studied the Constitution and the way the U.S. was founded?

“Maldonado last week launched his efforts with the Reform for Change Committee, to push for Prop. 1F — which would cut off pay for legislators if the state has a budget deficit.”

Every one of those Propostions were DOA the minute they put them on the ballot.

They will all FAIL...

Is this guy a Republican? 'Cause nobody ever explained to him that the business of America... is business!

IE: Making money.

And if he finds that a problem, then he's not Republican red... he's a Red republican.

Ten years ago the California budget was $70-billion dollars.

Today it is $140-billion.

So in 10-years our Democratic controlled legislature has managed to esentially put an additonal state government on top of the one that we already had.

The sad part is that have absolutely nothing to show for all that outrageous spending, except a gigantic $15-billion dollar deficit..

Abel, you ignorant slut!

It is self-aggrandizing politicians like you who are the problem and totally out of touch with voters. You have no idea what "angry" is.

If the rats can slip stealth candidates like Maldonado and Adams into the GOP, why can’t the GOP find a few sneaky operatives to run in rat districts? The rats pulled a fast one, and good for them - - they play to win. I’m sick of the whining about scumbags like Maldonado and Adams.

What Abel Maldonado thinks your taxpayer dollars should be spent on:

The Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center

Yes folks, Abel already built a monument to himself with taxpayer dollars.

And he thinks a RECALL of these self-centered tax-raising socialist lawmakers who refuse to listen to the voters is a "Waste" of Taxpayer dollars?

Abel -- YOU WORK FOR US!

Abel Maldonado's website claims his vote was the deciding vote that got the recent California budget impasse settled. As if it will turn out to be a good deal. Maldonado is an airhead.

Was it the RATS that continue to talk about this little scum-bucket as the future of the Republican Party or who highlight him at the RNC Convention?

I’d like to blame the RATS, but the only way to do that is to believe that the RATS also have control of the entire Republican apparatus.

Are things that bad already?

He’s worse than an airhead—he is a tool.

He joined with Arnie in the final hours of budget negotations and put “his” (really Arnie’s) demands on the table so that the Democrats could look like they actually gave something up.

What was Abel’s #1 priority? An open primary, LA style, for California.

He’s just another one trying to purge conservatives from the Republican Party and push for that can’t-we-all-just-get-along one-party rule. It is Abel that needs to be purged from any form of leadership.
