If endorsements were votes, it would be Huelskamp in a landslide

Kansas State Sen. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler, picked up yet another endorsement today in the First District Congressional race, this one from former Congressman Jim Ryun.

Ryun announced his support for Huelskamp in a fundraising letter as a "a top-notch Kansas state senator for more than a decade, earning many accolades including a lifetime A+ NRA rating — the endorsement of Kansans for Life — and Taxpayer Champion by AFP (Americans for Prosperity)."

Huelskamp has gained a whopping 34 endorsements since announcing his intentions to run in December of last year. The list is long and growing longer:

Gun Owners of America

Former Speaker of the House and current legislator Rep. Melvin Neufeld, R-Ingalls

Former Kansas Speaker of the House Robin Jennison

Founder of the National Center on Fathering Ken Canfield

Vice President of the Kansas State Rifle Association George Petersen

President of the Kansas State Rifle Association Patricia Stoneking

President of the Hodgdon Powder Company and board member of the National Rifle Association Bob Hodgdon

Citizens United Political Victory Fund, along with leader of the group, David Bossie

Former Executive Director of the Kansas Taxpayers Network Karl Peterjohn

It sounds as if Huelskamp is the most conservative candidate in the field. Conservatives need to nominate the most conservative candidates available in open seats that are safely Republican.

I wonder, what does a conservative candidate look like these days. It’s been so long.

Such poor reporting. No mention on which party currently holds the seat.

This is for Republican Jerry Moran’s seat. He’s vacating it to run for Senator. This seat hasn’t elected a Democrat since 1932.

Who else is running in the primary? Any polling on the primary?

There’s a list of candidates.

No rats have even expressed interest apparently. This is one of our safest seats.

One must be weary of RINOs in Kansas, it’s almost a 3 party system.

Hopefully Huelskamp pulls it out. Winning the R primary in KS-1 is tantamount to winning the general election.

Jerry Moran should’ve run for Governor back in ‘02. He would’ve defeated Gilligan-Sebelius (namely because he was well regarded by both the KS Republicans and the RINOites).
