Terry Goodman, an Overland Park city councilman, said today he's considering a campaign next year for the 3rd Congressional District seat currently held by Democrat Dennis Moore of Lenexa.
Terry Goodman"I'm taking a look at it," said Goodman, 62, a Republican.
He has served on the city council for nine years and has lived in Overland Park for more than 35 years.

I hope he runs. We are already having more recruiting success than any of us had thought possible six months ago.
I would love to see Dennis Moore defeated in 2010.
Dennis Moore represents a Republican district. There’s no excuse for any of these Dems left in these Republican districts in heavily Republican states like Kansas.
He’d make number four that I’m aware of. Crowded primaries tend to help Moore.
The only Republican running that I’m aware of is Patricia Lightner, who ran unsucessfully in 2004.

Thanks for the ping.
My sis lives in OP, but she is not quite the political junkie that I am.
Tell me about this guy, is he conservative enough for us?
“Tell me about this guy, is he conservative enough for us?”
I don’t know what his ideology is. But for some reason, the residents of Johnson County don’t seem to want conservative representation. The district have rejected one conservative Republican after another. Being a Kansas residenet, maybe you know what’s going on.
When I moved back to Prairie Village, I was shocked at all the Obama signs lining the streets. Lots of libs and RINOs around here now. So many Obama stickers on JOCO cars as well.
The elite country club type of Johnson County believe the crap and propaganda that the MSM feeds them.
Maybe that will change next year?
Two others are showing indications that they're thinking of running - Kevin Yoder, the 20th District rep, and some doctor Steve Reintjes who has been doing some fundraising. Lightner is the most conservative, Yoder slightly more moderate, and Reintjes is an unknown.
I'm tired of him always coming by and asking for my lupins.
"Wait a tic, blimey this redistribution of wealth is trickier than I thought."
Because there are two Republican parties in Kansas, and Moore has built a very successful coalition of Democrats, independents who would rather puke than vote for anyone from the Phill Kline branch of the party, and moderate Republicans.
Moore has benefited from the fact that he has spent most of his time in office under a Republican president. He's been able to chart a moderate course and vote with Bush maybe a third of the time on less important issues. But now he's stuck with Obama and he's been forced to make some votes that aren't overly popular around here. He voted for cap-and-trade, for card check, and may be forced to vote for Obama's hell-th care plan. That won't sit well around here. So for the first time in 10 years or so the GOP has a chance. The right candidate will knock him off.
‘Moderate’ Republicans haven’t had any luck against Moore either.
I’m rather surprised he hasn’t attempted to make a move up by now, to Governor or Senator (Governor being a better bet, since the Dems have far better luck with winning that office). After all, how long does Carol Marinovich intend on waiting for Moore to retire ?
I'm not sure he's got the fire anymore. He's 65 and has had a nice run as a Congressman. He's really devoted to his grandchildren and he's felt bad that he hasn't been around for them. If he wins this time I could see him retire in 2012. Parkinson is the one who wants to be a Senator so bad he can taste it, and I'd give it 60/40 or 70/30 that he announces for Brownback's seat.
Because when a moderate is nominated the Conservatives stay home. When a conservative is nominated the moderates stay home. Or vote for Moore.
I’m surprised Parkinson hasn’t announced by now if he were running for the Senate. But I still wonder how much the Dems trust the guy. He’s an odious, backstabbing opportunist who was, after all, the State GOP Chairman when Gilligan-Sebelius first ran. Apparently the Dems have virtual nobodies as the declared candidates for Governor and Senator currently. You’d think the new Lt Gov would want to step up and run, but apparently not.
