Barnes to challenge Mollohan in 2010

Republican state Sen. Clark Barnes says he's going to challenge Democratic Congressman Alan Mollohan in 2010.

Barnes currently lives in Randolph County, which is part of Republican Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito's district. But Barnes says he is considering moving to a residence he owns in Grant County, which is in Mollohan's district.

Barnes, who was first elected to the state Senate in 2004, says he has wide ideological differences from Mollohan, a 14-term congressman.

Alan Mollohan is more suited for making liscence plates than he is for casting votes on the House floor. Clark Barnes may be the strongest he’s faced since 1984.

Isn’t Mollohan one of those that came to Washington worth virtually nothing and is now worth 8 figures? That’s amazing considering he only makes $165,200. Yes, that last sentence is sarcasm.

Alan Mollohan followed his father into Congress, who was there for some 20 years, so I imagine he had some worth from that.

Come on ... we pay these Representatives a lot of money so that they won’t get corrupted. It is obvious he invested his money wisely and maintained a frugal lifestyle. The end result is a bankroll that shall insure him against corruption. Cut these Reps. some slack, man.

/sarcasm

We don’t need term limits ... we need substantially more representation in the House as spelled out in the Constitution. This 435 representing 300,000,000 has got to end.

This house seat belongs in our column.

It seems to be more Republican than Capito’s seat.

All three of the WV seats should be back in our hands (as should all 4 of AR). The national Dems are out of touch with the values of both states.

The the national GOP seems to never spend money on WV races even though for a pitance u can own the airwaves. WV should be solid red and I think we are going to see some wins.

Of course, we could also make it a nice Republican blue. ;-) WV is already plenty RED with Byrd & Rockefeller and the rest of the Marxist rodentry.

I just got some bad news- most of Barnes’ Senate district is located outside of the Congressional district he’s running for.

Well, as per the Constitution, you don’t have to live in the same district as the Congressional seat you’re running for, so if he has a remote shot, he should do it.
