What a coup it would be for the GOP to win Obama's former senate seat.
There's no doubt that the post, which is currently occupied by recently admonished Senator Roland Burris, would be an emotional victory for the Republican party.
So it makes sense that the national Republican Party has signaled a willingness to pour a sizable chunk of money into Illinois political races, according to Crains.
Illinois State GOP Chairman Pat Brady said he received a commitment from the RNC to pour funds into the state in hopes of a political breakthrough.
Brady said chairman Michael Steele told him that significant help was on the way for the likes of Mark Kirk and Andy McKenna, who are just a couple of promising Republicans in a state that has been solidly blue for decades.
"Mr. Steele says he's very committed to Illinois," Brady told Crains. "Illinois is a top tier state for them."

RINO ALERT!
RINO ALERT!
RINO ALERT!!
Outrageously, Steele promotes Beth Coulson, someone who “supports abortion rights, civil unions for gay couples and received a perfect score from the state League of Conservation Voters during her tenure in the state House.”
RNC Chairman Michelle Steele loves to be Scozzafavaed!!
What’s with the repeat of the headline in parentheses??
It’s worth repeating
Should have said....Mr. Steele says he’s very committed to Illinois
Not sure what your problem is (Not sure what your problem is).
NEITHER DO I (NEITHER DO I)
This basically means that Steele is going to waste money again helping Mark Kirk, RINO.
I’m all for the Republicans being aggressive and not ceding any ground in 2010. One could almost suspect, however, that this is only Michael’s latest attempt to get Barack to notice him at any time in any way at all.
I whole-heartedly disagree. This country’s gonna go down the shithole unless we reverse things fast. The last thing we need is to promote the people who are responsible for this mess, so the Democrats can blame us in 2012 like they did in 2008. If we’re gonna Obama a Senate to run against, then let’s make sure it’s a Senate that’s willing to fight. One bad senator in 2010 could cost us ten good senators in 2012 and 2014.
Mark Kirk is a Democrat, and the fact that he puts an “R” after his name only discredits Republicans... and nearly demolishes the chance of ever being able to have a conservative win in Illinois.
Hey, I wasn’t commenting on the RINO qualities of the IL candidates at all. And I agree, the RNC should be backing far more muscular Republicans than they are.
There’s no chance of the Republicans retaking the Senate in 2010, however. The best they can do is make progress for seizing it back in 2012, on Sarah’s coattails.
I do want Republicans to be aggressive in 2010—and like you I also want them to go with true-principle Republicans when they do. Hint: lots of the blue states will only go with socially conservative Republicans if they see that ancillary to their small-government Republicanism—which is what can win in the bluest of blues.
Is Scozzafava running for the Illinois Senate Seat?
Yes. Her name will appear on the ballot as “Mark Kirk.”
LOL!! (LOL!!)
So much for the RNC claiming they will NOT be pre-endorsing in primary races.
RINO is as RINO does.
first we had GTHBO
now we have GOTMS (ms=mister steele)
Was there ever a better set-up ? ;-)
