In God I Trust – In The Cabbage Patch I Do Not

Posted on 04/10/2010 5:50:09 PM PDT by TLittlefella

Even after all the evil tyrannical shenanigans of Congress and the Obama Administration,
and after the continuous daily Obama lying, the cabbage patch still gives Obama a forty
plus percent approval rating. Why?

Take a voting cabbage patch of forty six percent, add in five percent voter fraud and the
outlook for the 2012 election looks dismal.

Over the years it was very possible to see the growth of the cabbage patch. The style of
music was indicative of the cabbage patch growth. The popularity of a music style often
reflects the sentiments of society.

The transition from the traditional music of the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s, to Rock and
Roll of the 1950’s was an exciting change. The lyrics were still intelligible and vocalists
still had singing talent, they needed singing talent because the vocal could be well heard
over the music which played in the background. The late 1950’s, early 1960’s, Doo-Wop
appeared with great popularity. Like Rock and Roll, Doo-Wop was filled with intelligible
lyrics and very talented vocalists (mostly African-American) who sang with the music in
the background. Oh, those great coherent days of the fifties, I do miss them so.

Shortly after the wide spread use of illegal drugs in the 1960’s came Psychedelic Rock
and the Heavy Metal Headbangers. The onstage band members more resembled animals
than humans. The vocalists were more often than not without any singing talent, but it
didn’t matter because the music was so loud it drowned out the vocalist anyway. The
band members were often stoned on drugs and the cabbage patch fans were stoned as
well. There has always been an element of society I refer to as the cabbage patch, but
Psychedelic Rock, Heavy Metal Headbangers and the stoned fans contributed greatly to
the growth of the cabbage patch.

Then in the 1970’s came Disco with its bright spinning psychedelic lights. Lights and
music pleasingly esthetic and satisfying to the minds of the drug stoned cabbage patch.
By the 1970’s society’s experimenting with illegal drugs was over, much of society was
now completely stoned and addicted to the stuff, no need to experiment, buy as much as
you can.

The demise of Disco brought on the great sounds of Hip Hop. Oh what great sounds of
incoherent grunting can be heard from blasting car radios. As the Titanic was sinking
“the band played on”, now as our democracy is sinking another incoherent grunt is heard
from an iPod with the latest download from the cabbage patch.

Unless you were blessed with stupidity at birth, you saw it all coming, you witnessed the
growing cabbage patch, and you surmised the most rotten of the cabbage heads would
end up in our government. Like sewage leaking out of a giant societal cesspool our
government is now that leaking sewage, and that is why we have The Real State of Our Union.
and that is why I’m concerned about the 2012 election.

The demise of disco did not bring the introduction of rap. There was a good decade in between where music was actually pretty good. It was the reagan/thatcher era. Drug use actually declined in this brief period of sanity.

Music is a spiritual things, and has one of two sources. Too tired to comment more now.

Yes I agree, after Disco died and before Hip Hop really grabbed hold
there was other music. Hip Hop was at its infancy in the early 1980’s.
Country music was hot in the 80’s and my wife and I did a lot of
two stepping. We took lessons from a guy and his wife who danced
professionally for the Miller beer company.

We learned 20 some different line dances none of which was
square dancing. It was fun dressing up like cowboys and cowgirls.
We loved it. By the time the early 90’s rolled around, the younger folks
were moving in, the music was changing to funky country, and there was
more belly rubbing going on than dancing. That’s when we quit.

You'd likely be surprised at the number of Heavy Metal performers who are conservative.

Incidentally, most successful Metal Guitarists have classical music training.

Yes, I am surprised.

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth is a Christian, so is the lead singer from Korn. Bruce Dickinson is a military historian and fencing master. Alice Cooper is born again and has built a Christian School in Arizona.

Personally, It’s rare that I listen to metal for the singing. I like hearing the scrunching of the distorted, palm muted rhythm guitars.

I’m one of those heavy metal fans you so eloquently insult and I’m conservative. And no, I don’t smoke, drink, or use drugs. Can’t paint us all with a broad brush. That’s what the liberals do.

There are always exceptions to the rule. Looks like you are an exceptionally good person. Please accept my apology.

Apology accepted. I see the larger point in that how can 40% still approve of 0bama even after all that’s been revealed about him?

Dave Murray is one of those guitarists who is self-taught, and has a total mastery of his instrument, as well as his own distinct playing style and sound. Definitely my main influence on guitar.
