WASHINGTON In California and across the nation, it's open season on RINOs.
For many conservatives, there's nothing worse than being a RINO that's a Republican In Name Only, a moderate, a politician who's considered squishy on core principles and a little too independent.
When California Republicans go to the polls to choose a U.S. Senate candidate next month, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore says he'll be the only non-RINO on the ballot.
He says both of his challengers, former Rep. Tom Campbell and former businesswoman Carly Fiorina, are true RINOs: Campbell because he backs gun control, abortion rights and gay marriage, among other things; and Fiorina because she cozied up to Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain during his 2008 presidential campaign and then spoke in favor of a plan to curb global warming.
Conservatives say there are far too many RINOs in the national Republican Party, epitomized by moderates such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rudy Giuliani.
For DeVore, who's running last in most polls, the long-shot strategy is clear: Campbell and Fiorina split the RINO vote and he emerges as the winner and gets the right to face Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer in November.
If the moderates are divided, "then I'm in," said DeVore. "It is good news for me. What has to happen first is that people who are currently supporting Campbell because they erroneously think he's conservative need to find out the truth, at which point they'll come to me."
For Campbell and Fiorina, the strategy is equally clear, particularly in a race that's likely to be decided mainly by conservative voters: Establish your anti-RINO credentials.

Unseat Boxer.
Fiorina may be a RINO, but she’s Sarah Palin’s RINO.
Sarah Palin endorsed Fiorina does this mean that Fiorina is now no longer a RINO to a lot of Freepers?
no, but compromises are sometimes necessary
does this mean that Fiorina is now no longer a RINO to a lot of Freepers?
or.. ?? :-}
First I heard this. Wow, that's disappointing.
It's better to keep your mouth shut and endorse nobody than to endorse some simple scumbag who is actually stupid enough to get taken in by the "global warming" scam.
check it out on Real Clear Politics afternoon edition for today
i am all for compromising but if she was interested in just winning the seat why not endorse Campbell who polled ahead of Boxer fairly recently
here is the endorsement letter
Let’s shake it up in California!
I’d like to tell you about a Commonsense Conservative running for office in California this year. She grew up in a modest home with a school teacher dad, worked her way through several colleges, and then entered an arena where few women had tread. Through a combination of hard work, perseverance, and common sense, she proved the naysayers wrong to reach the top of her field, where she led with distinction facing hard truths, making tough decisions, and showing real leadership through a rocky transition period. Where others had failed, her company had weathered the storm and settled on a stronger new foundation.
Her name is Carly Fiorina, and I’m proud to endorse her for U.S. Senate.
Carly is the Commonsense Conservative that California needs and our country could sure use in these trying times. Most importantly, she’s running for the right reasons. She has an understanding that is sorely lacking in D.C. She’s not a career politician. She’s a businesswoman who has run a major corporation. She knows how to really incentivize job creation. Her fiscal conservatism is rooted in real life experience. She knows that when government grows, the private sector shrinks under the burden of debt and deficits. We can trust Carly to do the right thing for America’s economy and to make the principled decisions she has throughout her professional career.
Please consider that Carly is the conservative who has the potential to beat California’s liberal senator, Barbara Boxer, in November. I’m a huge proponent of contested primaries, so I’m glad to see the contest in California’s GOP, but I support Carly as she fights through a tough primary against a liberal member of the GOP who seems to bear almost no difference to Boxer, one of the most leftwing members of the Senate. Carly needs our support in this crucial election year when we have a real chance of putting an end to the Pelosi/Reid Big Government agenda.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting Carly. Visit her website here, and follow her on Facebook and Twitter. Read up on her positions and plans to help get us on the right track.
California is still Reagan Country, and Carly promises her Reagan Conservative values will be put to good use for her state and for our great nation. Shaking it up in California is long overdue. Let’s help Carly do it!
- Sarah Palin
I had read it earlier today, and did not necessarily agree with it.
Sarah speaks for Sarah. Is there anyone you agree with 100% of the time, me not really.
Calling it an "unbelievable job killer," GOP Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today urged the elimination of California's landmark global warming law.... And she said the science involved in global warming should be subject to more scrutiny. "I think we should have the courage always to examine the science," she said.
What do you know that the Bee doesn't?
Is Fiorinan for open-borders like Rubio-Mel Martinez 2?
And no I am not a “pancake on his head” - Charlene Crist supporter.
I heard her speech at the GOP convention and it sounded like she supported “cap and tax” legislation. I have researched her further and now like her stands on most issues. She has also signed a pledge and stated unequivocally that she will never vote for tax hikes. Here is an interesting interview:

Remember that our first concern is taking out Tom Campbell, that means Fiorina, Devore never got off the ground.
