Poll results in the 2010 Minn. gov. race (Looks good for GOP!)

Election day is six months away, but for now it appears Democrats won't have an easy time winning the Minnesota governor's office for the first time in 24 years.

Exclusive 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS-SurveyUSA poll results show Republican Tom Emmer as the early front-runner in three hypothetical races.

His lead coincides with a surge in Minnesota voters who self-identify themselves as Republicans.

Emmer captured the Republican endorsement for governor in convincing fashion.

Now, in a hypothetical match-up against DFL-endorsed candidate Margaret Anderson Kelliher and the favorite to win the Independence Party nomination, Tom Horner, Emmer has a convincing lead.

According to the poll of 588 registered voters who say they're likely to vote, Emmer leads Kelliher 41 to 33 percent. Horner is at 9 percent. Another 17 percent are undecided.

University of Minnesota political science professor Larry Jacobs said, "The Emmer campaign has locked down Republican support while the Democrat-endorsed candidate Margaret Anderson Kelliher is struggling to unify Democrats."

Two other democrats running in a primary against Kelliher--Mark Dayton and Matt Entenza--also trail Emmer.

Well, here's a spot of good news from the state that's given us Jesse "The As**ipe" Ventura, Walter Mondale and Al Franken.

There are a significant number of undecided in all three hypothetical match-ups but I find it hard to believe that any DFL candidate is gonna take the majority of those undecideds.

Comments or opinions - anyone?

Dayton, Kelliher spar over taxes in MN gov’s race

http://www.wqow.com/Global/story.asp?S=12384303

House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher (KEL’-uh-her) says Dayton is “out of touch” and “not up to speed” because the Legislature has approved higher income taxes for the wealthy multiple times, only to have Pawlenty block the legislation.

The DFL(Democrats) are seething to raise taxes, as long as Democrats and the media keep 17% undecided(think Joe the Plummer, had he heard ‘help the poor’ he may have swung Democrat) in the dark and serve them a mantra, they have a chance. Republicans best teach Minnesotans Economics, including Macro Economics

I cannot help thinking the rioting in Greece will have an effect on the Minnesota political scene. For 8 years the liberals have been screaming about how stupid Tim Pawlenty is to always insist on cutting taxes and balancing the budget by holding back public spending.

Currently the Dems are in control of both MN houses of government and they want to increase taxes rather then cut spending. Last summer when the Dems could not come to a responsible budget, Pawlenty took it upon himself to balance the budget by cutting spending. Now one of our judges declared this unconstitutional and invalid. So, the process begins again. Pawlenty has vowed to stand his ground and not sign a bill with increased taxes.

The Greece situation highlights the wisdom of conservative principles when governing a state or nation.

Go Pawlenty!!!
Go Tom Emmer!!!
