NASHVILLE Anger over the skyrocketing national debt, which topped a stunning $13 trillion today, is fueling record contributions to Jeff Hartlines campaign against incumbent Congressman Jim Cooper in Tennessees Fifth District, the campaign said today.

Obama only won the district with 56% in 2008, and John Kerry only got 52%, so it's not a slam dunk for Democrats. And Jeff Hartline (www.hartlineforcongress.com) is raising sufficient money to make a strong challenge to Cooper, who is suffering because of his vote for Obamacare and for hundreds of billions of dollars in deficit spending in just the last year.
If the Republican victory is even bigger than expected in November, it will be because Republicans stopped conceding districts like TN-05 without a fight. Jim Cooper has a real fight on his hands.
Cooper acts as though he’s some great deficit hawk, but votes pretty much in line with Dennis Kucinich.
Not gonna help either that TN got no help for the flooding...
