Maryland: Palin endorses Brian Murphy for governor
The Baltimore Sun ^ | August 4, 2010 | Annie Linskey

Conservative darling and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has endorsed gubernatorial candidate Brian Murphy today, according to a post on her Facebook page. It is the first Palin endorsement in Maryland.

Murphy is running for the state GOP nomination as a more conservative alternative to Republican former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., who has most of the establishment GOP support in the state.

So far, Murphy has not shown up in polls or had much of an impact on the race, but in other states a nod from Palin has given outlying candidates momentum. On the stump Murphy says both Gov. Martin O'Malley and Ehrlich have spent too much state money and says he would cut corporate income taxes and reduce government spending.

Murphy’s campaign put out the following statement from Palin:

“I’m honored to endorse Brian Murphy for Governor of Maryland. Brian is a pro-life, pro-Second Amendment commonsense conservative and a firm believer in the free market and the cause for energy independence. As a former energy industry executive and current small business owner, Brian has the private sector experience that is so lacking in government today. He knows how to incentivize industry to get our economy moving again. Together with his running mate for lieutenant governor, Mike Ryman, Brian will provide Maryland with principled and results oriented leadership.”

Murphy said in a statement that her endorsement is "an honor and a priviledge."

She also endorsed McCain. I’m not sure Ms. Palin is quite as “outside the beltway” as she’d like to have us believe.

Seems like Sarah’s job is to travel the Country endorsing good candidates.

As opposed to Obama. He also travels the Country. But dem candidates hope he doesn’t endorse them. They hope he stays far away.

Let's get this straight, once and for all: Senator John McCain trusted Governor Sarah Palin with the nomination and possible election to the vice presidency. What do you think the reaction of the media would've been if she had backstabbed him in his senate race? Pick another issue to beat up Governor Palin with, because that one is lame and idiotic!

In Maryland, I’m afraid that Erlich is as good as we are going to do. That said, Bob is a good guy; it’s just that MD is deep blue!

She’s not helping in Maryland. And she didn’t help in Arizona.

Palin needs to get a life for a while.

Let’s get this straight: Sarah could have endorsed McLame, but not produced all the commercials and robocalls he’s flooded Arizona with the past many months.

“Let’s get this straight.” Most definitely.

I’ll e-mail her and let her know how you feel.

Mccain respected her and picked her. What sort of person would she be if she betrays him and stabs him in the back. The least she could do is return the favor. Hopefully she don’t pick him for VICE PRESIDENT though. That I won’t forgive

Thanks . . . and would you ask her for me to think things all the way through before she speaks?

Appreciate it ;-)

How many commercials and robocalls did she record for him, exactly?

I’ll e-mail Governor Romney, too. Can I give him a big, sloppy kiss from you?

If she can endorse McLame she could readily endorse Ehrlich
who is within a few points of O’Malley.

So please don’t tell me she makes these decisions based on “conservative principles”. Not after she stumped for Juan McCain.

as it is, if she has any influence at all in this state, she probably just siphoned enough votes away from Ehrlich to assure we’re stuck again with Martin Uriah Heep O’Malley

The Romney endorsement went to Ehrlich.

Ah, you see, there you go, you just said it. Thus begins the downward spiral of failing to do the right thing. At some point, the whole thing shifts from doing the right thing to not hurting the wrong person. Palin supposedly represented a shift away from that.

Here’s one 60 second ad she did, with the transcript. It’s been running since February.

You go find the rest.

This is the kind of “she’s not perfect so I reject her” nonsense that got us John McCain instead of Fred or some other conservative last time. President Reagan signed amnesty and an abortion bill (as governor) so I guess he wasn’t a conservative, either, right?

Palin has made about 40 endorsements. An overwhelming majority of them are good. And it's been her attention to the Republican primary process that has increased most of our attention to the Republican primary process.

That's a good thing!

Let's get this straight, once and for all...

The Palin haters are never - ever going "to get that straight". Are we clear on that? It's part of the agenda to break her down as much as possible.
