(VIDEO AT LINK)

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said that Jesus’s Golden Rule inspired him to vote to confirm Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court and suggested it would be a good thing for his Senate colleagues to also ponder Jesus’s words as they prepared to vote on Kagan.

“It is divine in its orientation, and it is probably something that would serve us all well if we thought about it at moments such as this,” Sen. Graham said on the Senate floor, as he pointed his colleagues to the Golden Rule and counseled them to look to the wisdom of “somebody far wiser than I am” as they cast their votes on Kagan.(continued)

Mini-MeCain Graham was trained by the best!

This guy's ego and illusion of self-importance is what fools are made of.

Lindsey has just recently been acting like a fool.

The last election (2008), his party (GOP) did not challenge his with a well known repub primary opponent. I guess at that time the prevailing thought may have been "he may be flakey, but he is our flake".

Not next time. 2014 he will have a formidible repub challenge. His record is well known and he has insulted his base, and he is loathed here.

In the meantime, the people of SC, who are basically apolitical although mostly conservative, are screwed.

He thinks he can throw Jesus in to appeal to South Carolina voters. South Carolina voters won’t be sending this limp-wrist back to DC after his next run.

Hell, I tried to send him packing back in 2008, both in the primary and in the general election.

He's nuzzled the hindquarters of McLame, Hitlery, and Oblabla enough to raise the Tea Party's ire, though. That's the kiss of death even for an incumbent here in SC. We're sick and damned tired of the good ol' boys thinking they have our votes no matter how they treat us.

Besides, with the votes Ms. Graham is courting, he might be talking about HAY-ZEUS Jesus instead of JEE-ZUS Jesus.

I don’t think we know the half of how eccentric he really is.

Maybe they have the proverbial pictures of him with the goat.

The more sanctimonious these politicians get, the more you know they are trying to justify something they know is unjustifiable. “It seems the lady doth protest too much.”

So, we can just chuck out all of the principles that went into creating a Constitutional republic and reduce all decisions made by our government representatives to an aphorism for how to treat our fellow man instead of considering the requirements of the job or the merits of the applicant?

If we are going to reduce such decisions to the Golden Rule I would have to reject Kagan. I would not want anyone to promote me to a position of responsibility that I was unfit to perform, to an institution I had acted subversively against in the past and had hostile feelings for the underlying principles I was being elevated to defend. It would be no favor to me to do that.

Frankly, I think Linseed is perverting the meaning of the Golden Rule in the same way that Pelosi has perverted Catholic doctrine on abortion. They are turning the meaning of things on its head in order to promote a secular humanist ideology with a Jesus logo pasted on it. Not unlike Black Liberation Theology.

Let's send him and Franken back to SNL. It's already a super-crappy program; two more talentless dipwads won't hurt it any.

ANd pick any two dorks currently on SNL and put them in the Senate. Both circuses might be improved.

I can't wait until November!

Would someone please smack this moron up side the head? As Lincoln advised, “Better to be silent and to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.”

I spend a lot of time in SC and I know a lot of people are sick of him.

If just one good candidate runs against him, he’s a goner.

Could be mistaken, but I am pretty sure the Golden Rule is NOT from the Bible.

"Sen. Graham Says Jesus Inspired Him to Vote for Kagan"

Everyone is supposed to just nod and say OK then...

BUT if some guy smacked Lindsay in the forehead with a baseball bat and said "Jesus Inspired me to whack Senator Dumb ass Graham in the forehead with a Louisville Slugger" they would lock him in the boobie hatch.
