(Il GOV Candidate) Brady Advocates Path to Citizenship for Illegal Immigrants
Fox News Chicago ^ | August 6,2010 | Mike Flannery

Chicago - The Republican candidate for governor Friday declared that Illinois needs more legal immigration.

Speaking to a group of Hispanic business leaders at Chicago's Navy Pier Friday morning, State Senator Bill Brady called on the federal government to reform immigration laws and to secure America's border.

Apparently, Sen. Brady’s position on immigration depends upon to who else is in the room when he is speaking.

Was that the same Bill Brady who “wouldn't comment,” on the Arizona Immigration law, according to the AP on May 12? Was that the same Bill Brady who told a La Salle County Tea Party Rally crowd that he opposed the lawsuit filed by the Obama Administration over the Arizona Immigration Law, and who “received loud applause and even whoops when he said he would not grant ‘amnesty or sanctuary’…” according to the La Salle County News Tribune on July 14?

You need to ask all candidates who support CIR how amnesty would benefit any of the 25 million unemployed citizens and legal residents, i.e., how would allowing the 8 million illegals in our workforce to keep their jobs help millions of our most vulnerable. Blacks have the highest unemployment rate today, with Hispanics close behind. And don't allow anybody to give you the B.S., "Americans won't do farmwork." Only 4 percent of illegals are in agriculture, the rest are in construction, transportation, manufacturing and service and hospitality.

Unfortunately Brady is what we have at this point. He’s light years better than Quinn.

From a policy perspective, what are folks opinons on a path to citizenship that is the same as if they were waiting from their home country. A foreigner can automatically register as a documented worker who can legally work here and begin functioning in our employment/taxation system. They have to apply for and complete the exact same steps outside of the fact that they can stay here under legal conditions. Obviously, those with criminal backgrounds would not qualify and need to be booted, and those here and documented would lose their status and get booted if they committed crimes.

Other than the idea of mass deportation is there a better solution?

Agree. Quinn has deprived a village somewhere of its idiot.

Besides, I have no problem with a “path to citizenship”. The fact is, we can’t round up and deport millions of illegal aliens. The door was left open, they’re here, and we’ve got to deal with the situation in a realistic way. No reward for bad behavior, but seal the border first, then we can talk about details of the “path”.

I hadn’t read your comment before posting, but I think what you’ve outlined is a very practical solution. And I think most illegals who came here for the opportunity to work and support their families would embrace it. Those who came here to peddle drugs or do other illegal acts DO need to be deported and if Mexico doesn’t like it, tough.

Build the fence, secure the border first.

Besides, I have no problem with a “path to citizenship”.

Nor do I so long as that path leads back to their country of origin so they can stand in line like every body else.

The fact is, we can’t round up and deport millions of illegal aliens.

We don't have to. Here's my plan for getting millions to self deport:

1). Fine those who knowingly hire illegals $5,000.00 per day per illegal. A second offense brings doubled fines and a five year prison sentence.

2.) No 'benefits' of any kind except for emergency, lifesaving medical care for anyone who is not a US Citizen.

3.) Offer a $250.00 bounty to anyone reporting an illegal alien. That's per illegal.

It'd take about 8 months.

Yeah, Quinn would take all of his marching orders from Daley. Brady will only take about half, may 60% of them.

This clown doesn’t deserve your money or votes. Citizenship for illegals sends the wrong message for the millions who are waiting to come. It’s been tried, and failed, and we don’t need Republican politicians who can’t get the message.

I regret my vote for him more every day. I really should have gone with my first choice, Adam Andrzejewski.

The may be the first general election in my life that I would rather sleep in than bother to vote. Between Kirk & Brady, what’s the point? I need to just get the hell out this state.

That is such a red herring. You start deporting those you catch in any transgression and the rest will leave on their own. Cut off the benefits, no food stamps, not rent subsidies, no school, no standard medical care. Emergency medical care in specific clinics for illegals only. In other words, you don't just get to go any hospital and increase the cost of care for the rest of us. Do those things and they will leave.

*** LORD, please let me get a job in TEXAS, REAL SOON! Amen. ***

Yesterday my wife found out that her insurance will no longer be good when ObamaDeathCare kicks in -- it's an 'unacceptable plan'.

Then I told her about all the states suing over it, except for IL (naturally). And for the first time in 35 years she said: 'LETS MOVE'. I said 'Texas?', she said, 'OKAY, LETS GO!' (her mom, whose 83 is the only thing really keeping us here now)

Which I would, except for that dreadful summer heat. So it'll likely be Montana or Wyoming for us.
