Highly placed sources have informed me that efforts are underway to have Sarah Palin intervene in the current squabble between former Washington U.S. Senate candidate Clint Didier and Republican Senate nominee Dino Rossi.
Palin, if you recall, endorsed Didier just prior to Rossis entry into the race in May. SarahPAC gave Didier $5000 and Palin recorded a robo-call for Didier, but she did not campaign in the state for him.
Didier has declined to endorse Rossi in the Senate race until Rossi agrees to meet three specific demands. Rossi has refused.
Republican state party officials and electeds are busy behind the scenes trying to repair the rift. A close election between Rossi and Democratic incumbent Patty Murray is expected, and Didiers 12 percent primary vote might be crucial.
More details as they become available.
So, what the he** ARE the three specific demands?
Sheesh.
I will never forgive Didier if his childish tantrum costs us control of the Senate. He has to endorse and sound sincere.
I supported Rossi during the primary. Dider’s actions the last few days have confrimed to me that I made the right choice.
1) Introduce the Sanctity of Life Act that U.S. Rep. Ron Paul introduced in the House. The bill would allow local jurisdictions to pass anti-abortion laws without interference from federal courts.
2) Sign a pledge that he wont support any additional taxes or increases in new taxes.
3) Pledge to vote no on any bill that increases federal spending.
What isn't clear is whether Rossi actually disagrees or whether he is just refusing to have the tail wag the dog as an appeal to the mushy middle.
WA state Ping (Didier)
I voted for Didier in the primary, but his demands after getting his butt kicked are not helpful. Dino has the support of this household.
Clint, you lost. Be a man, nut up and shut up.
Though noble, these three conditions aren't enough reason to throw the US Senate to the demss. Are they sure Didier isn't in it just to throw the election to the dems?
I think you ask a real good question. Some one got to him. He’s working for the other side.
It’s frickin August.. If Didier supporters are going to sit out in November and not send their ballots in for Rossi, that’s a Dino Rossi problem..
Didier only has one vote in November.. his vote, if not for Rossi, will be cancelled out by Dino’s.. None other...
And it’s not a poker game that all 150k voters for Didier go directly to Rossi once he loses...
Frankly, Rossi needs to do more than Didier at this point.. It’s Rossi who has to earn those votes..
And for the record, I voted for Rossi- I’d vote for Didier or a potted plant instead of Murray..
This is just party politicians getting panties in a twist..
It’s August.. November is not here...
Just questions that popped up in my otherwise fertile mind.
I went to the link and just read the story. I must have missed it. It was a pretty short story.
Yea. Besides, it's not like removing Murray from the senate is a more important objective than soothing the defeated candidate's injured pride. August is "it's all about me" month. We can worry about the fate of the nation come November.
>>Though noble, these three conditions aren’t enough reason to throw the US Senate to the demss.<<
I agree. They are not reasonable “demands”.
Yes, he can shape the discussion and possible campaign of Rossi. But charging around like a wounded moose is not the way to do it. His political immaturity is hurting him and the chance to toss out Patty and live to fight another day
And to all of you who say Clint's way or no way? Grow up!
Welcome to 6 more years of the dumbest senator in Washington. Ask yourselves - Can you live with that? You will lose more than your pride in this election.
yeah, I heard that on a radio program driving through Seattle last week..
The defense I heard was that Rossi is in a heavily blue state just like Scott Brown in Taxachusetts and it’s the best they can get considering the geography and demographics..
Not a ringing endorsement for conservatism :)
The premise is a defeatist attitude by Republicans in my opinion but they just want somebody with an R...
not a ringing endorsement but it’s what they’ve given people.
For the record, Rossi would have been better than Gregoire and will be better thsn Murray.. Is he all everybody wants?
nope.. Didier probably got in the race in the first place to see the gauge and make some changes..
The in-fighting gives this guy a little hope.. Status quo shouldn’t be accepted as gospel...
Repubs in WA need a scalp and they are begging for Rossi to give that to them. And I am also begging for Rossi to win..
We can all get along pushing in the same direction in November... at least I hope so...
I think I’m starting to burn out on this “grizzly” thing.
