Today's Delaware County Daily Times had a tough editorial calling for the abolition of teacher strikes.
The Times points out that teachers in Moon Area School District across the state in Allegheny County went on strike after being offered a 2.88 percent raise. The Times points out that teachers in the Bethel Park School District, also in Allegheny County, who get salaries of between $45,700 and $92,548 are striking, offended by the district's request that they pay 2 percent of their individual health plans and 4 percent of their family ones. They now pay 0.5 percent and 0.9 percent respectively.
Has it started to dawn on anyone that teachers union really isn't "for the children"?

My suggestion? Let them know that you might be advertising across the nation for new teachers (plenty in the wings) who will work under these circumstances. Then mention that once you pull this trigger...you are no longer looking at two to four percent....but instead, ten percent.

No, don’t outlaw teacher strikes. Outlaw tenure.
unions are adversarial to the company by nature, in the case of teachers union, guess who the company is... that's right, children and the taxpayers
Outlaw both in K-12. Outlaw unions in colleges and universities - tenure does have a valid role there, but only after a minimum of ten years teaching.

I think public school teachers should lose any special status they have. Home schooling is the future because the teacher’s unions have successfully blocked vouchers and real reform. So let them strike. Parents will withdraw their kids and get less and less patient with paying the salaries of these exalted chiselers.
It won't work in Pa due to our very vile and stupid laws and that is the problem.
