On ‘Late Night,’ Christie Rolls Eyes at Prospect of Palin Presidency
The Wall Street Journal' s Metropolis ^ | November 23, 2010 | Lisa Fleisher

Faced with the prospect of a President Sarah Palin, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the Republican party’s darling from another coast, shook his head and rolled his eyes.

“I don’t know, but it’s an amazing world,” he said to Jimmy Fallon during a taping of Tuesday’s Late Night show.

Christie brought his sharp tongue to the talk show Tuesday after the two traded barbs over Twitter when the Republican governor canceled a long-planned Hudson River train tunnel.

Fallon had joked that New Yorkers would now have to get to New Jersey as they usually do — by accident.

“You think it’s funny, Jimmy?” Christie challenged Fallon on the show, which airs at 12:35 a.m. “You know what we do to people like that in Jersey?”

Christie, known by Trenton insiders for his wit and occasionally foul language, turned serious and said New Jersey shouldn’t have to pay for the tunnel while New York stands idly by.

“There’s nothing New Jersey hates more than getting screwed by New York,” he said....

I don’t know if we should read too much into Christie allegedly “rolling his eyes” at the question. He may have just been irritated at the question. Moreover, don’t put it past any reporter to just make something like this up. However, I’ve read a lot of posts here and elsewhere on the conservative netiverse that gush over Christie. I think we need to get over the guy. He’s as good as we’re ever likely to see from New Jersey, just as Scott Brown is about the most conservative senator we’ll ever see from Massachusetts, which is: not very. Christie appears good on fiscal matters, and is apparently firmly pro-life. But on every other issue I’ve ever heard his position on, he might as well be a democrat. He’s a gun-grabbing pro-amnesty Castle-endorsing RINO who wants us to pay more for energy to solve our nonexistent global warming problem. Again: cheer him on for his battle against the NJ unions, and his pro-life stance, but let’s not hear any more of this nonsense about Christie for prez or vp.

Wow someone doesn't worship at the shrine of Sarah Palin. Off with his head!

Jay Severin, a big Romney supporter, rips Sarah Palin every chance he gets, and he's been trashing Bristol almost daily, and he has a lot of influence with the independents in this state.

Notice how many book signings Sarah has scheduled in the northeast?

That's right...ZERO.

He invited the Palins in his state, I think early last last week. He’s trying to convince Sarah not to run for the “good of the Republican Party”.

He has become an emissary of the Bushes.

As far as policy goes, her best moment was the “death panels” comment, but I’m tired of the constant Facebooking and Tweeting.

So, you're tired of her fighting the Obama administration with her two most potent weapons?

The only thing he’s good at is the fiscal side and a fighter

I would argue, at this time in history, that is what we need in a leader.

I am not a pro Christie cheerleader (I know very little about him), nor am I anti-Palin (I LOVE HER!) but I hate how others on this site tend to demonize anyone that speaks against her. We all must admit that she does come with baggage. At this point in time, I plan to support her, if she runs, but a lot could happen in the next year (when the primaries heat up).

Maybe my pups are influencing me subliminally...?

Thanks, anyhow.

For a lot of Republicans, Conservatism is just a political strategy! ...not a set of core beliefs.

Yes. Familiarity breeds contempt. Is she a celebrity or a serious contender?

Most east coast people judge others based on accent, and speed of speaking.

“He is not to be trusted”

I can’t imagine being allowed to become Governor in New Jersey..without a skeleton or two somewhere to assure “control” ....

If you watch the clip, he doesnt “roll his eyes” when asked about Palin being President. He looks into the crowd, raises his eyebrows, and says “who knows, Jimmy?” Its around 4:20 in the clip.

I think there is some divide and conquer going on in the WSJ blog.
