Oh I wish some one like Ronald Reagan could be taking the oath of office today, instead of being stuck with this piece of crap for a President!!!

Yet Google has a picture of Kennedy on its banner today. Things that make you go hmmm.

Mrs. abb and I were there that day also. Our ball was at the Museum of American History.

I remember it well. I was in Jr. High, in the class of the teacher who taught me the Constitution so well, watching the inauguration on TV. Our teacher made us aware of what a momentous day it was.

Wow, does that make me feel old. I cast my very first presidential vote for the man, while a college student. One of the proudest moments of my life.

So rare to have a simultaneous practical and symbolic changing of the guard. I kept waiting for the shepherd’s crook to jerk Carter off the stage.

The talk of the Kennedys and Camelot makes me sick, not least because it was an after-the-fact myth.

I will be eternally grateful that my salad days coincided with Reagan’s 8 years in office. Contrary to the cynical views of political consultants, there was a real change in America down to the smallest cultural details. Leadership and vision matter which is why DC’s poisonous crabs-in-a-bucket environment will never produce another Reagan. I don’t know if Palin’s the answer but whoever it is will have to come from outside the Beltway.
