Do Birthers Know That Mike Huckabee Is Not a Birther?
New York Magazine ^ | February 15, 2011 | Dan Amira

Posted on 02/15/2011 7:41:08 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

According to a new poll, 51 percent of Republicans who intend to vote in their party's primaries do not believe that President Obama was born in the United States. Among these birthers, Mike Huckabee is the preferred candidate with 24 percent of the vote, followed by Sarah Palin at 19 percent, "someone else" at 15 percent, Newt Gingrich at 14 percent, and Mitt Romney at 11 percent. Unfortunately for the birthers, though, Huckabee, the winner of the birther primary, has made it clear that he doesn't subscribe to such conspiracy theories.

As he said on Geraldo at Large on July 26, 2009, "The reason that we knew this wasn't true is that I promise you that Hillary Clinton and her very careful research would have found this out." As he was drowned out by crosstalk and Geraldo's laughter, Huckabee continued, "I kept telling people, there's no way this would have escaped them, and they would have pulled the trigger on it long before the election."

Is it possible that birthers realize Huckabee isn't one of them and prefer him anyway? Sure. After all, there's nothing that says birthers have to make birtherism their No. 1 issue. But, at least on the question of Obama's natural-born citizenship, Palin seems to be the prospective candidate they should be rallying around, since she told a talk-radio host in December of 2009 that "the public rightfully is still making [Obama's birth certificate] an issue."

Poll: 51 percent of GOP-ers still want the birth certificate [Politico]

I frankly don’t care one way or the other if the Huckster is a birther or not. He just plain sucks.

this is the same woman and her very careful research that didn't see the primaries being stolen by Obama via the caucuses.

The same poll revealed that 49 percent of Republicans are idiots.

Disappointed Huck. Really, really disappointed.

I think Huckabee is out of touch with the American people.

Secondly, I think the definition of what a "birther" is needs to be looked at.

There are many who believe that Barack Obama was in fact born in Hawaii and yet are still feel that he is hiding something by refusing to make his birth certificate public.

I am one of those people. Does that make me a birther?

I would like to see the birth certificate. The problem is that as of now, the POSOTUS claims that Obama Sr is his father and that alone disqualifies him to be the legitimate president of our country.

You are in error on so many levels ... where did barry the bastard and cankles get called to attend right before super tuesday? ... Dinae Feinswine’s home in Georgetown, to be told which one would win the election and which one would have no chance once the black vote stayed home. Cankles did as she was told, get out of the way. And in true elitist clinton style, she let her workers get flushed down the toilet of DNC power brokerage, so she would have a legacy of ‘fighting the good fight’, when all she was doing was following orders from those who run this nation and the world. Barry the bastard is the pathetic one. He was told that because he could deliver the black vote because he was perceived as ‘black enough’ he was chosen. Not one bit for any merit which he may believe he has. He was selected to win because he is black and can read a teleprompter. period. It would not surprise me if barry the bastard and his family have not even got a reservation in the underground city Washington will be herded into.

Yes, and the obvious abuses by ACORN.

Huckabee works for Fox. So?...Why would anyone be surprised?

If Fox and Huckabee can't be trusted to defend the Constitution ( **ALL** of it!) then they can't be trusted!

-—I promise you that Hillary Clinton and her very careful research would have found this out...-—

I guess the Huckster wants favorable treatment from Ann Coulter, Glen Beck, and Bill O’Reilly - they all say that anyone who doesn’t blindly believe the BC exists is nuts, crazy, a crackpot.

But the fact is no conclusive evidence has ever emerged. In fact 0bama has spent millions hiding all relevent information about him. Reasonable people ask “why?” and demand answers.

Does Huckabee think he would get a pass from the media should he try the same thing?

Hillary is also the one who, with a large staff, couldn’t figure out the Russian word for ‘reset’.

I think he is somewhat detached from reality...

I’m sorry I just don’t believe Mike Huckabee is the preferred GOP candidate for 2012. I don’t know one single soul who wants him. Everybody I know either wants Palin, Bachmann or DeMint.

Always go to motive, expatguy. Why would he refuse? To me, it should be a requirement.

Article 2, Section 1, U.S. Constitution.

No person, except a natural bornCitizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President (clip)

"there's no way"

yeah, Huckabee bought "the Big Lie". A lie so extraordinary that most people can't fathom someone actually trying it. There is a reason there are conmen. It is because people want to believe.
