Taxes and primary endorsements were the talk of the California Republican Party convention in Sacramento on Saturday, as party officials and delegates wrestled with ways to boost their share of the statewide electorate.

Some party officials and activists rallied around opposition to Gov. Jerry Brown's proposal to put tax extensions on the ballot.

"If Republicans vote to raise taxes, hell hath no fury like a taxpayer scorned," conservative commentator and pollster Frank Luntz told several hundred delegates attending a Saturday luncheon. "Don't you dare vote for those taxes."

Sacramento delegate Karen Klinger said the party needs more Republicans who will stand for the voters who elected them by opposing any taxes.

Jerry Brown is a liberal coward.

Brown wants to raise taxes thereby inviting more businesses and individuals to leave the state and move to more favorable states with lesser or no taxes.

Brown is a moron.

The legislature moved all the responsibility for the non-non-non prisoners to the County jails and probation. Then they cut off all the regular COPs funds and Rural Sheriff’s funding. Then they added all sorts of new Mental Health, welfare and Human Services responsibilities on County government. If the Repubs don’t allow the tax increase to go to the voters, I predict that many County governments, including ours, will collapse within the year.

Counties, unlike the State, can go bankrupt.
