As GOP candidates make us yawn, Palin sits and waits (Barf alert)
The Anchorage Daily News ^ | July 2, 2011 | Paul Jenkins, Editor, AnchorageDailyPlanet.

Here's a surprise: A New York Times/CBS poll shows Republican voters wish they had more GOP candidates to choose from in the 2012 presidential race -- and about two-thirds of them said they are enthusiastically unenthusiastic about any of the nine announced candidates.

The ennui is palpable and who could blame them? Cold mashed potatoes have more pizzazz then this bunch. History-impaired. Goofy. The same, followed by more of the same. Blah-blah-blah. The only way to liven it up would require at least a truckload of fairy dust -- or new blood jumping into the fray.

All of this plays out while Barack Obama stinks up the joint. The poll says only 47 percent of the respondents approve of Obama's job performance; 44 percent disapprove. The rest have been living under a bridge for the last few years. Respondents do not like Obama's handling of the economy, and 63 percent say the country is on the wrong track.

You would think those numbers would have Obama perched high on a ledge somewhere in Chicago -- but he likely is thinking: Why panic? The Republicans, after all, might do what Republicans do -- knock each other off. Everything could change. Quickly.

Meanwhile, in the hinterlands -- and Pella, Iowa, defines the hinterlands -- Sarah Palin the Unannounced is hard at work premiering "The Undefeated," an unsettling, 1930s-style, propaganda rehab documentary about her. She takes a few moments to fuel speculation that she might finally leap into the presidential contest, such as it is.

So far, she's been smart. Why get in early and get savaged? She already has taken body shots -- remember Paul Revere? -- without even putting a pedicured toe into the ring.....

I'm guessing the Daily Planet is one of those free papers with ads for massage parlors and escorts in the back.

I hope she runs 3rd party. I am over the GOPS. No one can be nominated RAT or GOP at this point without being compromised and collaborating.

“Body shots”? That’s an unfortunate turn of phrase, as anyone, oh, 30 or younger will realize. And Palin can sit it out, for all I care. I’m with Bachmann, a damn good candidate in my estimation.

Do they still feature the classic: “Death begins in the colon” ads?

Quite honestly most of the candidates have serious flaws that cannot be eradicated overnight:

1) Newt Gingrich

“Foot in mouth disease.”

2)Jon Huntsman

“I am not in Obama’s hip pocket.”

3)Tim Pawlenty

“At least my wife thinks I’m exciting enough.”

4)Herman Cain

“I don’t need to bone up; that’s what advisers are for.”

5)Ron Paul

” I am not a kook, really!”

6)Rick Santorum

“Conservatives love an underdog.”

7)Michele Bachmann

“Hey, I’m really scholarly, notwithstanding John Wayne.”

8)Mitt Romney

“A man for all seasons.”

9)Rick Perry

“My name is not Bush.”

10)Sarah Palin

“A woman of distinction.”

These journ-O-lists are like a bunch of little kids running down the street trying to catch the ice cream truck. They whine and cry as the truck fades into the distance.

No “third party” crap. All it will do is guarantee a SOCIALIST everytime. There is no strong enough ‘third party’ (yet) to command enough votes to win a national election.

Whoa. Do you not see that to be nominated is to be compromised? Wake up!

“AnchorageDailyPlanet” is a Rat Rag that hates Palin because of what she stands for (which tells you what this Rat Rag stands for). Nuff said.

I expect people like Mr. Obama and other leftists to go after veterans and the military, but so-called “conservative” Republicans?

I remember the ADN very well from 40 years ago when lived in Alaska, they were rotten liberal to the core even then. They loved the political corruption and the lavish parties the ADN staff and reporters got invited to by the corrupt ones. They came to love the CBC with a passion and protected them at every step.

They later came to hate Sarah Palin’s guts when she ripped the corruption out by the roots and spoiled their good times. So never expect any semblance of honest reporting by the ADN, that way you won’t be disappointed.

No Paul Jenkins has a very serious case of Palin Derangement Syndrome (PDS). Anything he says about her must be taken with about a bucket of salt! PDS is quite common in the media up here.

Yep - the Biloxi Sun Herald was bought by McClatchey a few years back. It went from a fairly balanced paper to a left-wing rag and ended up begging people to subscribe due to the drop in readership.

What most of these leftist Journos seem to forget, or perhaps they simply don’t realize, is that Sarah Palin has a sizable base just waiting for her to announce. After all, over 20 million people watched the Madison Speech on Ustream on a Saturday. No other possible candidate can draw that many eyes and the accompanying fund raising possibilities.
