Alabama Republicans who pushed through the nation's toughest law against illegal immigrants are having second thoughts amid a backlash from big business, fueled by the embarrassing traffic stops of two foreign employees tied to the state's prized Honda and Mercedes plants.
The Republican attorney general is calling for some of the strictest parts of it to be repealed.
Some Republican lawmakers say they now want to make changes in the law that was pushed quickly through the legislature....

Just to be clear .... I was calling the Republican AG a coward.
Those two stops I heard were because they were driving cars without plates. That would and should get anyone pulled over.
The Stupid Party indeed.

As well as be probable cause for asking the occupants to prove their residency status (no matter what their “accent”).
Actions do have consequences.
GOP = Gawd Owful Pussies
Just more vivid glaring proof, no one at any level of government can be trusted.
WTF? Idiots. Do the dems ever back down from anything? Why do we?
I read that one of them had his papers with him, but that did not seem to matter to the officer at the roadblock.
Didn’t the foreign worker for Mercedes, he did not have no id on him at all and he stated it was all back at his hotel ? If I was in his country and did what he did, I would be taken to jail too.

Uh, you are insane. In Germany, police does not care about any foreign IDs (technically status have to proven if asked but it has never been enforced and even if it would, no jail would follow). They are certainly not going to send you to jail.
He was unable to produce his driver license and passport during a routine traffic stop. He was evidently pulled over for driving a rental car without tags...So this is legal police do not see any need to check out this ? I can drive with no tags, no insurance, no license and it’s now legal and police just wave you on ? I wish I would knew this sooner my plate just cost me over $ 100.00
He could have stolen the car - it didn’t even have plates. Who knows if the rental agreement was on him. I don’t blame them for taking him into custody until they could verify his story and identity.This is still for the time being a nation of laws
I agree. I was only pointing out how things work Germany as the poster gave false information
How does a rental car have no tags? Something smells here.
