Palin: Gingrich Appeals to 'Red-Blooded Americans'

While insisting that she is not endorsing anyone at this time, former Alaska governor and GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin came very close to endorsing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Saturday after his impressive victory in the all-important South Carolina primary.

“I’m still not endorsing anyone at this time,” Palin told Fox News.

But pointing to husband Todd’s endorsement of Gingrich, she added, “I think that endorsement was real reflective of a lot of Americans who understand that somebody with experience in cutting government budgets, cutting taxes — which does more for liberty and an economic turnaround than anything else — someone who has waged war on Hillarycare and government taking over of healthcare — somebody with that experience plus somebody who has struggled personally and overcome struggles and challenges — would be one that was embraced by voters.”(continued)

Perhaps her Fox news job makes her unable to outright endorse Newt. She seems to be sitting on a fence with both legs dangling ready to drop into the Newt camp, but something holds her back. She seems to endorse Todd’s endorsement, though.

I also think it’s her Fox contract. Unlike the DNC operatives at MSNBC who have no qualms and secret as to who they are endorsing (working for)...

Millions of Christians, especially evangelicals, hardshell Baptists, conservative Catholics, Pentecostals, etc. know that she believes, as they do, that the man is the head of the household, as ordained by God, and so if Todd is for something .... She doesn’t have to come out and say it, which might goof up her FNC contract and take bread off the table. Or am I reading too much into this?

“Or am I reading too much into this?”

Perhaps so. What Governor Palin actually stated was the reasons her husband endorsed Speaker Gingrich - i.e. his experience and knowing his way around the Capitol, the very arguments Governor Palin’s critics used in their demand that Governor Palin go back to Alaska and stay there.

This is brilliant on several different levels.

Thanks for the Sunday morning mental image.

No, quite nice as a matter of fact.

I love Sarah.

I also understand that the more feminine way to an outright endorsement is hinting and teasing before the answer.

But dang, reading her is like reading Pravda during the Cold War these days.

I noticed in the Debates Newt saying when he was Speaker we Created Jobs,Well Last Night In his Speech he said When he was Speaker The American People Created the Millions of Jobs. Good job of Refining the Message

The future is a hell of a lot scarrier than anything in his past.

Perhaps she’ll quit Fox when Gingrich taps her as running mate.

Right now Obama is not in the news. As long as there is a republican primary, he stays out of thenews. He is irrelevant.

I agree with her. This should play out. I’m enjoying it. Like watching you team in the third quarter three touchdowns up, and the other team is desparate for a score.

No, let’s keep this going until it’s just Newt and Mitt debating. It will be good practice for Newt, and in the end it will coalesce us to support him.

On the other hand, I see where Romney already is going after Newt personally.
