Newt Gingrich: ‘Good salesman’ Romney has ‘really weak product’
The Orlando Sentinel ^ | January, 22 2012 | Hal Boedeker

Posted on 01/22/2012 12:50:55 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Newt Gingrich on CBS’ “Face the Nation” this morning turned analyst about why top opponent Mitt Romney stumbled in South Carolina.

Authenticity is the issue, Gingrich told Bob Schieffer. Gingrich described former Massachusetts Gov. Romney as “a very good salesman, very much wants to sell, but he has a really weak product. And so I think he’s been dancing on eggs trying to find a version of Romney that will work. And I think the more he dances the more people go — you know, give me the real … I have flaws, I have weaknesses, I’ve had a long career. But the fact is what you see is really what you get.”

Gingrich won the South Carolina primary on Saturday. On “Face the Nation,” he derided Romney’s record and gave Floridians a preview of what they will see before the Jan. 31 primary.

“I think Governor Romney’s core problem was that he governed as a Massachusetts’ moderate, which by the standards of Republican primary voters is a liberal, and he can’t relax and be candid,” Gingrich said. “Romneycare is the precursor to Obamacare. He can’t admit that. He voted…he had tax increases, and ranked 47th in job creation, fourth from the bottom. He was pro gun control and had a 400% increase on taxes on guns. He can’t admit that. He was pro-choice functionally no matter what he said about his views. He had Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country, written into law in Romneycare....

But Wall Street can? Hahahahahaha! This is one of the many reasons that Mr. Cain is no longer a candidate. He didn't know how to deal with the snakes and lizards. Newt does.

Always like your posts, and alway snotice you’re pro-Palin.

I don’t think most people really know just how knowledgable and how plugged in to the conservative movement and the GOP Newt is, What his history is.

People don’t know about his history with GOPAC, arguably a tea pary precursor. From the 80s through the mid 90s Newt was in charge of recruiting GOP Congressional candidates, of running the farm team basically. Hundreds if not thousands of potential GOP candidates throughout the country all listened to these tapes he’d put out on policy and strategy. Even Santorum mentioned it at the debate this week. Just google Gingrich GOPAC tapes and you’ll see.

Newt worked with Frank Luntz and others to develop the language/framing that led to 94 revolution.

Newt was House whip and had to know every GOP Congressman and every district.

Regardless of how you feel about him personally, objectively few if any people alive today, and certainly no in the current GOP field even comes close, have been as connected and have as many ties to conservatism, the party, to fighting for conservatism, to developing the ideas, to recruiting the candidates, to coming up with the strategies...as Newt does.

If this comes to down to Newt vs Romney for the conservative base and who connects with them better...it won’t even be close.

I woudn’t be surprised if Newt wins rather easily in FL and then you see Romney withdraw so the establishment can put up someone else to stop Newt.

The corruption by the Democrats and this current Administration will never be changed by Romney or Rick S. Only Gingrich has the strength and ability to break the communists Democrat hold on America.

They’re already preparing for it:

I posted below the fold of the Orlando Sentinel. We all should give it a go.

Believe it or not, in the dark I stumbled across my first viewing of CURRENT TV a couple of nights ago. Olberman had a guest on who had a point I had to agree with. He said, that conservatives, win, lose, or draw, would rather march over the cliff with a fighter like Newt than without a sound from Romney.

My heart sang. For me, that was TRUE, and those two, Keith and his guest, both had the countenance of DEFEAT in their tone and their appearance! They know. THE CAUSE OF THAT DEFEATED COUNTENANCE IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE SURGE OF ONE MAN, NEWT GINGRICH!!!!!!!

I think Christie is now fatally tainted by his endorsement of Romney.

Huckabee I could see. Daniels is beyond bland, has zero natl recognition or name ID(no one knows who he is), zero tea party or base/activist support, zero connection o evangelicals or social conservatives, has a weird vibe going with his wife leaving hom for another man for a few years and then returning, has a direct connection to the Bushies, has an arab background, it won’t be Daniels.

Besides, it’s too late for anyone new to win a majority of delegates.

Newt would beat Christie easily if Christie did get in. Christie would do well in the northeast states, but Newt would win in the South, midwest, and west.

Huckabee is interesting. He’d do very well in the South and could challenge Newt there. He’d do very with evangelicals and social conservatives. He has a personality and charisma. He’s probably kicking himself he didn’t run. He thought Romney’s money and establishment support would be too much but Newt just showed none of that mattered and Romney was always very weak.

The irony of ironies would be the establishment begging Palin to get in to stop Newt, but I doubt she’d do that.

When is the last time we had a candidate that you could watch on a show like this and NOT have to feel like you have to add anything to it because he wasn’t thorough enough?

It will seriously be a cold day in hell before a Bush is considered again before 2030.

A very astute post.

Experience is going to count more than ever. Newt has it in the areas of idea generation, preparing ‘road maps’ and identifying strong potential candidates and knowing those who can fill the big shoes in the next administration. His command of history will serve him well. I don’t see a more knowledgeable candidate. I want someone that will have it together on day 1.

Newt can take the fight to the Liberals and the Media. Looked like an easy win with Mittens—is going to be a hard fight with Newt who rip down the DNC and the neo-communist core. He would be someone they fear—so they must destroy him—if not with lies, slimy attacks—they may but a bullet though him! i put nothing past them. If they shoot Newt—Sarah Palin should step into his blood stained loafers and run in his place! Newt! Be on your guard!!!
