"All bets are off" as to who might lead the Republican ticket if a brokered convention becomes a reality, Sarah Palin told Eric Bolling, host of Follow the Money, on Wednesday. That's the closest Palin would come to stating her own intentions.
Here's what some of the analysts and pundits say about the prospects for Sarah Palin emerging from a brokered convention as the Republican nominee:
* "Notice that part of her message was that a brokered convention wouldn't be so bad and guess who could emerge out of a brokered convention, with all of this enthusiasm and energy and all the rest? My hunch is that has to be something she's thinking about. So it's in her personal interest to see this thing move along in a way that could potentially lead to not one of these current candidates emerging as a consensus candidate out of the Republican convention." -- Leonard Steinhorn, American University public communications professor
* "
[Jeb] Bush/Christie vs. Sarah Palin/Rick Perry positions coming head to head at the Republican Convention would pit the storied worlds of Dexter and Paulie Walnuts; the most notoriously corrupt, burned-out, busted-up, used-up, dangerous, underwater and broke Eastern states, against the new, independent, states-oriented, freedom-seeking constitutional conservatives like Palin of the Western states, Texas and Alaska." -- Bernie Quigley, the Hill's Pundits Blog....

Only Palin can unite the SoCons and Tea Party/little (l)ibertarians.
Essentially she is banking on the notion that the Primary season is pre-caucus poll. Fine with me, and I agree. I have believed all along that any candidate emerging from the convention must be able to energize the Party, and the People. Santorum? Romney? Once again we would have the spectacle of actual candidates drawing fewer people at a rally than Sarah P. giving the odd speech in support of some backwater congressional candidate. I’m sure that McLame was embarrassed that his Veep provided nearly all of the jet fuel for his tin-lizzie flying fortress. It’s still the longest of long shots. No candidate will conclude with a majority if they all stay in, but the leader will justifiably howl if Sarah P. pops up through the trap door and snatches the brass ring. Love to see it!

Sarah gets to choose. Whoever selects her as VP gets the nomination. Gingrich / Palin 2012.
Well, Palin perfectly represents the three legs of the stool of conservatism (unlike so many GOP-ers nowadays). Her ideology is unique in how it is a curiously stable mix of libertarianism, populist reform and traditional conservatism... elements which are often conflicting and don’t easily mesh together well. And, lastly, she has that rare brand of sunny Reaganesque optimism.
So, in accordance with all this, the GOP-Establishment decree: destroy the evil witch!
Annie Oakley beats Dexter and Paulie Walnuts all hollow.
Sarah will not be the nominee under any forseeable circumstance. Rick is insanely jealous of Sarah. She has the knowledge and charisma he can only dream about.
Rick will, without hesitation, happily throw his support to Mitt. Rick is no friend of Liberty.
Sarah who?
Natufian who?
I’m speculating on Palin/Gingrich 2012.
“Rick is no friend of Liberty.”
It is pathetic how many social conservatives here at FR don’t recognize that fact.
Oh please.
Even extinct cavemen know who Governor Palin is.
