Television talk show host Cristina Saralegui announced her endorsement of President Barack Obama, saying this weekend that there's too much at stake not to speak up when Hispanics could "very well decide the next election."
It is the first-ever presidential endorsement for the popular Miami media figure, often called the "Hispanic Oprah" for her two-decade run on Univisión. Obama for America released a video in English and Spanish with a message from Saralegui to the Hispanic community.
"President Obama, I was very fortunate to live the American dream and I know that only you will make it possible for millions more to do the same," she said in a statement provided by the campaign. "Youve had our back, and now, with utmost respect and admiration, I have yours."
She is "one of the most trusted names in the Hispanic community and we're honored to have Cristina be a spokesperson for the campaign, speaking directly to Hispanic voters about the President's accomplishments," said campaign spokesman Jim Messina.
Her nod comes at a time when both Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney are actively seeking Hispanic voters. Both men will travel to Florida this week to speak in Orlando at the annual conference of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials...

Help with the Cuban vote? There are ways to find out, but it’s complex, and way beyond my capabilities way up here in “white trash” Michigan. A few phone calls to the right people should tell. Anyone? It could be important.
Christina’s show is on Telemundo, which is owned by NBC.
They are all in for the Bamster. I know as I watch Telemundo, and the support of the Dems even is permeating one of the telenovelas I watch.
Why is it that the Hispanics and blacks can band together to support their racial special interests but if whites do they’re called racist.
Whites are supposed to just bend over and take it - I’m so sick of this - and I’m half Spanish.
Who?
No, he has completely destroyed the American Dream - he's just letting a few extra looters in to pick through the bones.
Remember the telenovela "Dama De Rosa"?
Always enjoyed El Chavo del Ocho
She looks more like that female that use to be on FoxNews about 10 years ago. I think she went over to the dark side of TV news maybe cnn of msnbc
Yes, they are...and they will. Right up to the end.
You`re right.. she looks like Rita Cosby.
Rita Cosby, yeah that’s the woman I was referring to.
Read up on the Frankfurt School and see how this came about. One of the worst things Hitler did was drive the professors of the Frankfurt school out of Germany to the Ivy Leagues of the US.
All the GOP needs to do is ask the Latino community in an ad: Are you comfortable voting for gay marriage and abortion? Then vote for Obama.
Not sure where that photo's from, but Cristina looks like a fat 60+ year old now. She kind of waddles around-wears shawls to hide her fat. She's the grand daughter of some famous pre Castro Cuban.
I actually just started watching novelas when Fox news got to where I could no longer stomach BOR in the evenings.
Back in junior high I used to watch one..it was kind of like Big Valley, beautiful mountain settings..It was before Spanish to English Closed Captioning, so, the day after each episode, the girls who knew Spanish would have to tell me what was actually said.
I liked La Reina del Sur with Kate de Castillo. It was filmed in Spain, Morocco,Mexico, Columbia and Miami. LoL, what I like about the novelas is that even if a character you like (or don't like) gets killed off, he will usually be in the next novela that replaces it.
Just 7 months after Cristina Saraleguis show debuted on Telemundo, it has been canceled. The last PaLante con Cristina, which airs on Sundays at 7 pm, is slated for June 17.
Kinda like Oprah tanked, well, so is Cristina. I don't know that her endorsement would garner many votes to tell the truth.
Is she a US citizen? huh?
